Akiskalian recently received the high honors and recognition as the Journalist of the Year for his interview with big-wave surfer, Marcio Freire from Maui, Hawaii.

Montanans Launch Recall of Senators Who Approved NDAA Military Detention. Merry Christmas, US Senate

Montana would be the first recall drive to be launched as a result of the vote for the NDAA military detentions provisions.

(HELENA) - Salem-News.com Activists in one state made an unexpected move against US senators who passed the National Defense Authorization Act of 2011- which allows for the indefinite military detention of Americans without charge or trial.

Montanans have announced the launch of recall campaigns to give senators who voted for the bill the boot.

Voters Want Judges Accountable to the Constitution, not Congress

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Justice at Stake Americans solidly reject an array of proposals that would severely limit the role of federal courts, according to a new national public opinion survey released today by the nonpartisan Justice at Stake Campaign.

Voters oppose allowing Congress to limit the types of cases that the courts can hear—a proposal supported by four Republican candidates— or allowing Congress or the President to ignore or overturn Supreme Court decisions.

New center for Agent Orange victims in Quang Ngai

VAVA will coordinate to eventually build 55 such operations in most localities nationwide to help AO victims.

(DA NANG, Vietnam) - Agent Orange activists in Quang Ngai, Vietnam. A new rehabilitation center was inaugurated on Monday and put into operation to provide shelter, healthcare, and treatment for victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.

Located on an area of 900 square meters in Nghia Thang Commune of Tu Nghia District, the well-equipped facility is able to offer treatment and training for the victims, who stay as day boarders.

(LONDON) - Vietnam Veterans against Agent Orange I returned to London on 16th December and while in Ho Chi Minh City along with others that included an Member of Parliament, representatives of the Foreign Office and the BBC World Service, we visited Children at the Tu Du Hospital affected by Agent Orange.

Dow Chemical was one of the companies that manufactured Agent Orange and has been given the contract for the Olympic Stadium that we are campaigning on to get cancelled.

US Ranks #1 in World, Up From 5th Place in 2010

Only three countries in the top 20 have seen a decrease in their World Giving Index 2011 scores: Canada, Sri Lanka and Malta.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Charity The US now ranks the highest in terms of charity in a massive global survey that put the nation in fifth place in 2010, according to CAFAmerica, a member organization of the UK based Charities Aid Foundation International Network of Offices, providing charitable financial services to individuals, global corporations, charities, and foundations.

According to those surveyed, two out of three Americans said they donated money to charity (65 percent), more than two out of five volunteered their time (43 percent) and roughly three out of four helped a stranger (73 percent).
