Salem`s Cherry City Roller Derby Girls are on Fire! (VIDEO)

They're simply too hot, the flames were searing... and the burning excitement means one thing; All-Girls Roller Derby is here to stay.

(SALEM, Ore.) - There was a certain kind of feeling present Saturday at the State Fairground Pavilion that's a little hard to describe.

Electricity was in the air and the place had a magical sense as Salem residents lined up for a night of roller skates and fishnet stockings, to watch ladies with names like "Areola 51" and "Like a Virgin" compete in a sport that used to be very popular in Oregon.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - A group in Monmouth is taking big steps to raise awareness about giving hope, and finding help for those struggling with depression, addictions, self-injury and suicide.

In a sometimes depressing world; one that all too often offers little or no hope, non-profit organizations are reaching out to create a hope filled solution.

Good times were had by all on Day #10 at the Oregon State Fair.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Just enough rain to keep it fresh, and all the games, rides, food and entertainment kids young and old could hope for were on the agenda Sunday.

A state fair to remember.

Parking at the fair was free this year, helping offset the costs for families who visited from all over Oregon and beyond. Most of all the fair is about kids. And every age every size, and every type made it and had a fantastic time enjoying the many things to see and do.

"No place else in the United States could you open a state fair during the summer months... and we'd be in raincoats! Come on, this is what it is like on the Fourth of July, it never changes, it is just who we are."

Concert leads efforts to reopen Child Abuse Prevention Center in downtown Salem.

(SALEM, Ore.) - A little bit of Nashville, TN will be coming to the Oregon State Fairgrounds. The “Cool Country Benefit Concert,” benefiting the Salem/Keizer based charity ESCAPE, will take place at the L.B. Day Amphitheater on Friday, August 14th starting at 6:30 p.m.

USS Shoup Will Visit Portland Rose Festival

The Portland visit offers the public an opportunity to tour onboard the ship and meet the Sailors as they showcase the ship's capabilities.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Sailors onboard U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer, USS Shoup (DDG 86), will arrive on June 4th for the Rose Festival. The ship will cruise along the Willamette River and moor between the Steel and Burnside Bridges before 4 pm.

The Shoup, along with three Royal Canadian Navy ships and two U.S. Coast Guard cutters will be in Portland to celebrate the 102nd Rose Festival.
