Chemeketa Memorial Honors Lost Students

(SALEM, Ore.) - Chemeketa College student memorial Chemeketa Community College and Winema High School Programs are mourning a tragic accident which took the lives of 2 high school students and has left the other student in critical condition at Salem Hospital.

Today a special tribute was held to honor the lost students and support those who lost fellow students and friends.

A bloody night in the normally quiet town of Detroit, Oregon led to a stabbing, arrest, and recovery of a loaded gun in the vehicle of the stabbing victim.

(DETROIT, Ore.) - Stabbing scene at Cedar's Restaurant and Lounge in Detroit, Oregon A reported fight between friends in Detroit, Oregon led to a man entering Cedar's Restaurant and Lounge Friday night shortly after 9:00 p.m., with a serious stab wound to the arm. Dennis Osbourn had just sat down for dinner.

"There was a good amount of blood, and I guess it wasn't that life threatening but it sure looked like it. He dribbled all the way across the street into the bar and against the wall and then there was a puddle."

17 Million Americans Drive Drunk Annually

To warn motorists about the dangers of drunken driving, the US government is spending about $13 million for an advertising campaign to publicize increased enforcement through the upcoming September 6 Labor Day weekend.

(TEHRAN Press TV) - Drunk driving A US government study says nearly 17 million Americans have driven a vehicle while drunk at least once within a year.

According to a 2008 survey conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an estimated eight percent of all drivers, or 17.2 million people had driven a vehicle at least once even though they knew they were drunk.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving Downgraded to a `D` Charity Rating Guide

Poor Fundraising Practices and Too Little Focus on Victim Services Earn MADD Low Grade.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - MADD gets a 'D' rating. The American Institute of Philanthropy’s (AIP) Charity Rating Guide & Watchdog Report has downgraded Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to a “D” rating on a A-F scale in its August 2010 report.

“Under the leadership of CEO Chuck Hurley, MADD further diminished its focus on victim services and educating Americans about the dangers of drunk driving, instead pushing anti-drinking, anti-alcohol public policies,” said American Beverage Institute (ABI) Managing Director Sarah Longwell.
