Washington State quarterly revenue projection down $1.4 billion

(Olympia, Washington) - Salem-News.com The September revenue forecast for Washington state government shows projected General Fund revenue down $1.4 billion. The forecast covers the remainder of this biennium (2009-11) as well as the next budget period (2011-13). The figure was released today by the Washington State Economic and Revenue Forecast Council.

According to Dr. Arun Raha, the state's chief revenue forecaster, "The Washington recovery seems to have lost momentum in the summer months after strong growth in the spring. The reasons are not Washington specific, but due to the slowing of the national economy. We remain optimistic about our aerospace and software publishing industries, however."

Oregon Zoo gives grant to Washington State DOC for frog rehabilitation

The frog rehabilitation is part of the Sustainable Prisons Project, a partnership between the Department of Corrections and The Evergreen State College.

(Olympia, WA) - Washington State DOC Logo The Department of Corrections received a grant from the Oregon Zoo to rehabilitate an endangered species of frog that lives in the Pacific Northwest. The staff and offenders at Cedar Creek Corrections Center have had a higher success rate at rearing the Oregon spotted frog than zoos and nature centers in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.

142nd Fighter Wing F-15s Launch for Temporary Flight Restriction Violation

Fighter jets break sonic barrier today enroute to Washington.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon Air Guard F-15 At 1:38 p.m. this afternoon, within minutes of notification, two F-15C fighters from the Oregon Air National Guard's 142nd Fighter Wing scrambled in response to a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) violation in the vicinity of Seattle, Wash.

The jets were under the direction of the North American Aerospace Defense Command.

U.S. Coast Guard identifies MH-60 helicopter crew‏.

(SEATTLE) - Scene of helicopter crash that claimed the life of three members of the U.S. Coast Guard The U.S. Coast Guard has identified the one survivor and three crew members who lost their lives, Wednesday, after their MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crashed in the waters off of James Island, near La Push, Wash.

Lt. Lance D. Leone, 29, of Ventura, Calif., survived the crash and is being treated at a Seattle hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He is married.
