Groundbreaking Set For New Veterans` Home Community Center

(THE DALLES, Ore.) - Salem-News.com The Oregon Veterans' Home will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 11 a.m., Thur., Nov. 18, for the construction of the new Stan and Jean Adams Veterans' Community Center.

Representatives from the offices of Sen. Ron Wyden, Sen. Jeff Merkley, and Rep. Greg Walden have been invited to join State Rep. John Huffman, The Dalles Mayor Jim Wilcox and other state and local leaders to break ground on the project.

A Tribute To Veterans

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Tough life of a U.S. Army soldier based in Kabul, Afghanistan Jerry Calow sent this to our newsroom for Veterans Day, he explained that he was hoping to be able to see these words published to as a show of faith for veterans, many of whom live difficult lives after their military service.

Most of us who served can relate to the intense feelings that accompany military service. Wars fought by Americans have shown out Veterans the worst side of life; death and destruction and emotional stress at levels unimaginable to civilians.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Veteran caregivers The first national study to give a voice to family caregivers of veterans reveals that they are twice as likely as family caregivers of adults overall to consider their situation highly stressful, and yet 94 percent of them are proud to serve.

This first in-depth study finds people caring for veterans bear higher burden, helping manage emotional and physical conditions often for 10 years or longer.

The State Library's Talking Book and Braille Services Honors Our Veterans with the Gift of Reading

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Digital book players One year ago veterans across the country were the first to receive the new digital talking book players from their regional libraries for the blind and print disabled.

Federal law requires that veterans be the top priority recipients of talking book library services delivered by most state libraries in partnership with the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped at the Library of Congress.

Aquarium to Offer Free Admission for Military on Veterans Day
