Perilous Rescue on Mount Hood Ends for Rescued Climbers

Two of the rescued three are reported to be attending a reunion of the complete climbing party at Timberline Lodge.

(MOUNT HOOD) - Mount Hood 4:30 PM Update The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office reports the three climbers have been safely removed from the peril and turmoil that threatened their lives on Mount Hood.

One of the three climbers, whose name is being withheld until family notifications have been completed, has been transported to Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital, in Portland.

Climbers Provided Warmth for Final Journey Down Oregon`s Mount Hood

The climbers are part of a party of 8 that required rescue on the mountain last night.

(GOVERNMENT CAMP) - 11:45 AM Update The Clackamas County Sheriff's Search and Rescue personnel indicate the 3 climbers are being warmed with hot liquids and dry clothing.

When this warming and hydrating session is complete; the attending rescue personnel will assist the climbers down the mountain. It is anticipated this return will require about three addtional hours to complete the rescue.

Climbers Found on Mount Hood: All is Well

As of 11:00 AM, rescuers report that the 3 climbers have been found and are in good condition.

(MOUNT HOOD) - mount hood oregon The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce that the search teams on the mountain have located and are with the 3 missing climbers at this time.

This early report indicates all is well with these rescued climbers and these rescue personnel will be assisting the 3 patients off the mountain as soon as
possible.

Congratulations to all rescue personnel involved.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's will be providing a news conference, update, at Timberline Lodge, at noon time today.

Harsh Weather on Mount Hood Hampering Search Efforts for 3 Stranded Climbers

The climbers, two women and a man, along with a dog, spent the night on Mt. Hood, cold and wet, but alive.

(GOVERNMENT CAMP) - Mount Hood Rescue efforts for the 3 climbers continue feverishly on Mount Hood.

Pinpointing the exact location of these climbers in White River Canyon of Mount Hood has been challenging; although, SAR personnel feel confident they have identified the precise location of the missing climbers.

Rescue personnel 'triangulated' on the MLU beacon signal which has been most beneficial in attempting to locate these climbers in the present white out and heavy snow conditions.

UPDATE Oregon`s Mount Hood Search & Rescue Effort Moving Closer to Remaining 3

The weather conditions remain harsh with a stiff wind, freezing temperatures and heavy snow falling.

(MOUNT HOOD) - Mount Hood, Oregon as seen from timberline Rescue personnel on Mt. Hood say they are working diligently to reach the 3 climbers that remain in distress.

The most current information reveals a recent cell phone communication has been completed between the 3 climbers and a Portland Mountain Rescue coordinator.

Portland Mountain Rescue personnel are now assessing this new information received during this brief conversation and are considering options in dealing with this newly acquired information in their efforts to locate the group.

5 Climbers Rescued From Mt. Hood, 3 Still Stranded on Mountain

The 3 additional climbers who reportedly fell over a ledge are located some 150' down a steep section of the mountain very close to the rescued 5 climbers.

(MT. HOOD) - Mount Hood Oregon The 5 climbers rescued from Mount Hood have arrived at Timberline Lodge and are all reported in good condition.

The remaining 3 climbers are still being addressed by rescue personnel who remain on the mountain; enduring harsh weather conditions in an effort to locate and come to the aid of the missing 3 climbers.

These 3 climbers are the individuals who had reportedly fallen over a ledge, separated from the original climbing party and were out of communication.

Searchers Reach 8 Climbers Stranded on Oregon`s Mt. Hood

The 3 additional climbers who reportedly fell over a ledge are located some 150' down a steep section of the mountain very close to the rescued 5 climbers.

(MT HOOD) - Mount Hood Oregon Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue personnel have announced that the rescue team dispatched to assist the 8 climbers are making great progress with this ongoing mission despite whiteout conditions on Mt. Hood.

The rescue personnel are with the 5 climbers who were directed earlier to take shelter in a snow cave.

These 5 are being assisted down the mountain at this time.

UPDATE: Five Climbers Located, Three Still Missing on Oregon`s Mt. Hood

Three climbers fall, five others told to build a snow cave.

(MT. HOOD) - Mount Hood Oregon south side features map At noon today, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office received word that a total of 8 climbers were in the area of Illumination Saddle.

The elevation was estimated at 8,320 feet.

For some unknown reason 3 of these climbers had fallen an undetermined distance.

The 3 climbers who have fallen are not visible, or in communication with the remaining members of the climbing party.

Three Climbers Missing on Oregon`s Mt. Hood

The climbers are reportedly well equipped but packed light for a quick trip.

(MT. HOOD) - Mount Hood Photo Courtesy: Portland Mountain Rescue. Rescuers are searching Mount Hood today for three missing climbers.

The men left the Cooper Spur ski resort to climb up the north side of the mountain and then down the south side to Timberline Lodge.

Authorities say the Hood River County 911 dispatch center received a call around 10 AM on Sunday after the three climbers failed to arrive at the Timberline Lodge on Saturday night.
