Injured Climber on Mt. Hood Safely Evacuated

Clackamas County SAR personnel report that the injured climber was plucked-off Mount Hood safely by 1042nd‏ Helicopter Squadron.

(MOUNT HOOD, Ore.) - Oregon Guard 1042nd Medical Company Blackhawk Photo by Tim King Salem-News.com Search and Rescue personnel on Mount Hood are reporting the Oregon Army National Guard 1042 helicopter has flown to the Hogs Back area of Mount Hood, and lowered a medically trained member of their flight crew down with rescue personnel on the ground with the patient. This member of the flight crew assessed the situation and determined the best options available to remove the patient from the mountain.

Oregon Guard Sends Helicopter to Mount Hood Rescue

An Oregon Guard helicopter heads to the rescue scene on Mount Hood.

(SALEM, Oregon) - oregon guard rescue mount hood clackamas The Oregon Army National Guard is be launching a Blackhawk Helicopter to make a mountain extraction of a climber who has suffered a head injury on Mt. Hood.

Kay Fristad with the Oregon Guard says he is one of two climbers who had been on the mountain. The second climber is making his way down the mountain.

The Blackhawk helicopter from the Oregon Army National Guard, based in Salem, Oregon, is expected to launch around 4:20 PM.

Rescue Teams Mobilize to Help Fallen Mount Hood Climbers

It is believed the climbers in need of assistance are located just west of the Hog's Back, on a reasonably level portion of Mount Hood.

(MT. HOOD Ore.) - Hog's Back on Mount Hood A male climber on Mount Hood has reported from a cell phone that he and another climber who was climbing separately, had fallen, tumbling a distance estimated to be 300 feet.

The Clackamas County Communications Center received the call at 12:33 PM, according to Detective Jim Strovink with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

"This reporting male climber informed dispatch he was not injured; however, the other climber who had also fallen suffered some facial cuts, knee and elbow injuries, yet was conscious and breathing. Both climbers are reported to be dressed warmly and the weather conditions are comfortable."

Horse Rescued From Ravine After Falling 40 Feet

It is a happy ending for a Clearlake family, after a 5 hour successful rescue of their horse.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Sunday at about 7:00 AM, firefighters from Marion County Fire District #1 and support personnel from Turner Fire District responded to Wheatland Rd. NE near River Rd NE to assist a local resident with an injured horse.

Officials say the horse had become frightened from a night on the loose and sometime early morning, fell approx 40 feet down a cliffs edge, landing in a ravine below.

Oregon Officials Continue Search for Missing Teen on Sandy River

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Search & Rescue Effort Continues Along The Sandy River

(SANDY, Ore.) - Salem-News.com A teen missing in the Sandy River has officials there moving quickly. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and Search & Rescue Coordinators resumed the search for the missing teen, Patrick Monteith of Sandy; who was last witnessed by three companions being swept down the Sandy River, east of Marmot, early Saturday afternoon.

Jim Strovink with the Clackamas Sheriff says NORSAR, a volunteer canine search group, combed the waters edge as darkness fell late Saturday night.

Dramatic Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue Delivers Surfer to Safety (VIDEO)

The surfer was safely rescued from a cove near Otter Rock.

(DEPOE BAY, Ore.) - Coast Guard rescue of a surfer in Oregon, Depoe Bay, 2-11-08 The Coast Guard rescued a surfer Sunday who became stranded by strong currents in a cove south of Depoe Bay, Oregon. The call came into the Lincoln County, Oregon 911 Dispatch Center at 1:41 PM.

They in turn contacted the Coast Guard to report a surfer in distress near Devil's Punch Bowl State Park. This is in an area known as Otter Rock which is probably the most frequently surfed spot on the central Oregon coast.

Keizer CERT Members Continue Assistance of Detroit and Idanha Residents

Keizer CERT Executive Director Greg Biben, said that his CERT members are highly motivated people who are always looking for way to help others and use their training.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - CERT members Jerry Orlando (left) and William The Keizer Community Emergency Response Team was activated and dispatched on Wednesday to the cities of Detroit and Idanha, Oregon.

The team spent Wednesday and Thursday assisting residents with snow removal following the largest snow accumulation recorded in decades those cities.

Swimmer Rescued Near Warrenton Monday (VIDEO)

Riptides cause approximately 100 deaths annually in the United States, more than all other natural hazards except heat and lightning.

(SEATTLE, Wash.) - Oregon beach rescue by: Tim King A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued a swimmer from the waters near Warrenton, Oregon, Monday. They received a relayed call from 911 operators at 11:01 AM that two swimmers had been caught in a riptide and were pulled out to sea.

An HH-60 helicopter crew was diverted to the scene and airlifted one of the swimmers from the water. The other swimmer managed to swim to shore on his own prior to the crew's arrival.

High-Angle Rescue Near Estacada Leads to Deliverance and Arrest

A man fell almost 200 feet after an embankment collapsed.

(ESTADCADA, Ore.) - Rescue near Estacada, Oregon 6 25 07 by: Emile Burley Rescue teams were called out on a mission near Estacada just before 6:00 PM Monday evening, after a report that a man had fallen from a 90' cliff along the Clackamas River.

Nicholas Harris and Danny Crane of Redmond were negotiating the side of a steep embankment to access the Clackamas River, the earth collapsed beneath their feet.

Five Mountain Climbers Stranded on Mt. Hood

The group of five, depending on their needs and weather conditions, may have to spend the remainder of the night in their self-prepared snow cave.

(Mt. Hood, Ore.) - Mt. Hood, Oregon Members of The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) Search and Rescue (SAR) Unit have responded to assist 5 mountain climbers on Mount Hood.

A CCSO Search and Rescue coordinator has started rescue procedures in response to these 5 climbers caught in a snow storm, with described whiteout conditions on Mount Hood.
