Oregon AG Pleased by Decision to Uphold Conviction of Sizemore

The Court of Appeals affirmed a trial court determination that Sizemore “willfully violated an injunction that the court previously entered in the underlying case.”

(SALEM, Ore.) - Bill Sizemore A court ruling against Oregon's biggest tax foe, Bill Sizemore, will be upheld. Attorney General John Kroger applauds the news.

“We are pleased that the Court of Appeals upheld the finding that Sizemore was in contempt,” Kroger said. “We’re deeply committed to holding people accountable when they break the law.”

Hiker Falls to Her Death at Eagle Creek Trail

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Willamette River in Portland, Oregon On Feb. 13, 2009 The Oregonian published a wake-up call article on the very dangerous industrial pollutants in the river.

Their emphasis was on the polychlorinated Biphenyls which was just one of some highly toxic substances. They also referred, in passing, that lower downstream was a severely toxic section of river. That should have been included in the story!

Deputies Conclude Murder Investigation at Stomps Residence

Human remains been found on the property have not yet been positively identified.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Multnomah County Sheriff Detectives concluded their on-site investigations at the residence of Hazelynn Stomps tonight at 7:45 p.m.

Police say members of the Stomps family are currently free to return to the residence.

Hazelynn Stomps Arrested for the Murder of Her Husband

Detectives say the investigation revealed inconsistencies in Hazelynn Stomps' statements which led to an Aggravated Murder Charge.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Murder investigation Detectives arrested 55-year old Hazelynn Stomps of Corbett at 7:00 p.m. Thursday for filing a false police report and for the murder of her husband, Gerald Stomps.

Hazelynn Stomps is the woman who reported on February 6th 2009, that she had been assaulted by a person she did not know at the Gordon Creek Bridge.

Multnomah Deputies Attempt to ID Body of Woman Found in Willamette River

There are no signs of foul play; but MCSO is still treating this as a suspicious incident, a spokseman said.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Death Investigation Police say a passerby spotted the body of a woman floating in the Willamette River under a dock at 9:00 a.m. today.

The woman is between 5'2" and 5'4" tall and weighs between 100 and 110 pounds. She is between 50 to 60 years old.

Multnomah Sheriff Bans Internet for Employees

Some employees will still be able to use the Internet.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - There's a new sheriff in town, and he is putting the kibosh on Internet usage for employees of the busy Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. The move will limit employees on keeping up on things like the day's news, but the Sheriff believes banning the Internet will be more in the public's better interest.

Following a 5 month consideration of the issue of internet use by MCSO employees, Sheriff Bob Skipper announced a change in the authorization required for employees to access the internet.

He says the policy 'upgrade' was driven by a 2007 investigation of three MCSO employees who had logged onto inappropriate internet sites during duty hours. Sheriff Skipper, who took office on July 17th, replacing long time Sheriff Bernie Giusto, was apprised of the on-going investigations and ordered an internal audit to evaluate internet use.

Deputy Says Woman Tried to Take His Gun in Multnomah Courthouse

Deputies say it appears that the Ms. Hawkins has some mental disorders.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - 42-year old Alicia R. Hawkins Nobody was hurt today in a Portland courthouse when a woman reportedly tried to pull the gun out of the holster of a passing deputy.

It would be fair to say that Multnomah County deputies had their fill of unexpected gun incidents Tuesday. Around 10:00 AM, a pair of deputies serving an eviction notice on an apartment dweller say they were surprised when he pulled out a gun. The other incident today involved the deputy actually having to wrestle the woman's hand off the gun.
