False Amber Alert Cell Phone Text Messages in Oregon

A cell phone Amber Alert about two little girls in Albany, Oregon was false.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - False Amber Alert In following up to today's information about false Amber Alert cell phone text messages being received in several states, including Oregon, the Oregon State Police has been in contact with the National Amber Alert Program.

There is no information to indicate this message originated from the Oregon Amber Alert Program, but it is vital that people understand how wireless Amber Alerts operate and the proper procedures to follow to maintain its success.

Investigation Over False Amber Alert Cell Phone Text Messages Continues

Anyone receiving similar cell phone text messages are asked to not forward the message as requested.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - False Amber Alert Police say further inquiry into the false Amber Alert text messages being received in Oregon has now confirmed the vehicle license plate number listed in the text message is from an actual Amber Alert issued out of Montana last week.

The two children were safely recovered and their mother was arrested in Wisconsin.

Police on the Lookout for Kidnapping Suspect in Grants Pass Area

The suspect was last seen on foot east of Interstate 5 about about two miles north of Grants Pass.

(GRANTS PASS, Ore.) - Police are looking for 49-year old Robert Alan Bufanda of Grants Pass Police agencies are asking for the public's help in locating a wanted man considered armed and dangerous after he allegedly kidnapped and threatened a Grants Pass woman Tuesday afternoon.

OSP Sergeant Jeff Fitzgerald says the suspect forced her into a pickup and drove her to a remote area about 1 1/2 miles from the residence to a frontage road along the east side of Interstate 5 near milepost 61.

Forensic Investigators Hope Facial Recreation From Human Skull Leads to ID

Clackamas County Sheriff's investigators seek public assistance with identification of missing woman.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The painstaking recreating may look very similar to the woman who apparently met her fate on Mt. Hood several years, possibly decades ago. In August 1986, a human skull was discovered in the area of Still Creek Road on Mt. Hood. At the time, forensic investigators estimated this human skull may have been at this location for a considerably long period of time- potentially up to 10-years; possibly dating back to 1976.

In March 2008, Nici Vance, a forensic scientist with the Oregon State Police Forensic Crime Lab, in Portland, determined this skull is that of a young female; probably in her late teens or early twenties.

Baseball Bat Attack During Home Invasion Leaves Two Hospitalized

An apparent revenge attack over an attempted rape was carried out on the wrong people.

(GLADSTONE, Ore.) - Home Invasion Gladstone Police are investigating a home invasion that left two people injured at an apartment complex on Caldwell Road. Sgt. Lynne Benton with Gladstone Police says they were notified of the attack at about 4:00 AM.

Officers responded to the call after a report that 4-5 subjects kicked in the apartment door and beat a guest who was sleeping on the couch with a baseball bat.

Update: Body Found Sunday on Beach Near Cannon Beach Identified as Missing Newberg Man

The bodies of James Nibler and Curtiss Heuer who were aboard the same boat, were previously recovered.

(CANNON BEACH, Ore.) - Coast Guard rescueman Police say a body that washed up onto the beach Sunday afternoon south of Cannon Beach was positively identified by the Clatsop County Medical Examiner as a Newberg man missing since a February 23rd boating incident in the Columbia River. The man's next of kin have been notified.

64-year old Lawrence Gene Nibler of Newberg, was one of three men who died in the February 23rd boating incident.

Police Attempt to Identify Body Found on Beach

Initial observations indicate the body may have been in the water for a long period.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - Oregon State Police are trying to positively identify the remains of an unidentified body found Tuesday afternoon washed up on the beach in Lincoln City. They say they are working with the Lincoln County Medical Examiner.

According to Lieutenant Kelly Collins, yesterday at approximately 1:50 PM a report was received of a body washed onto the beach near the Nordic Oceanfront Inn in the 2100 block NW Inlet Avenue in Lincoln City.

Suspect in Brooke Wilberger Case Joel Courtney Arrives Back in Corvallis

Brooke Wilberger has never been found, but prosecutors believe they still have the goods on Joel Courtney who will soon go on trial.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - 41-year old Joel Courtney, Oregon Murder suspect Benton County District Attorney John Haroldson, Corvallis Police Department Captain Jon Sassaman, and Benton County Sheriff Diana Simpson held a joint media conference to announce the arrival of Joel Courtney in Benton County today.

Courtney is alleged to have murdered Brooke Wilberger nearly four years ago after she was abducted in Corvallis.

Police Make Arrest in `Molotov Cocktail-Style` Attempted Arson

Police say they still seek one person in an attempted Arson of an Oregon DHS building.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - 27-year old Marlene Chenette of Portland remains wanted over the Attempted Arson of a DHS building. Police are seeking the public's help in locating a woman who they say became angry with the Department of Human Services over losing her parental rights, and tried to burn the DHS building down in Gresham two years ago.

Police say that on November 24th 2005, officers were dispatched to what appeared to be a broken window at the Gresham DHS building, 335 NW Division.

Man`s Remains Discovered Near Cannon Beach

Police say the death investigation is underway at Ocean Shore south of Cannon Beach.

(CANNON BEACH, Ore.) - Death Investigation Oregon State Police are working with the Clatsop County Medical Examiner in an attempt to positively identify the remains of an adult male found Sunday afternoon washed up on the beach about 2 1/2 miles south of Cannon Beach.

Police say Sunday at approximately 4:45 PM, a person walking on the beach found the partial remains of an adult male south of Cannon Beach.
