Man's Remains Discovered Near Cannon Beach

Police say the death investigation is underway at Ocean Shore south of Cannon Beach.

(CANNON BEACH, Ore.) - Oregon State Police are working with the Clatsop County Medical Examiner in an attempt to positively identify the remains of an adult male found Sunday afternoon washed up on the beach about 2 1/2 miles south of Cannon Beach.

Police say Sunday at approximately 4:45 PM, a person walking on the beach found the partial remains of an adult male south of Cannon Beach.

Oregon State Police, Clatsop County Sheriff's Office, and Cannon Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene. Initial observations indicate the body may have been in the water for a long period.

An Oregon State Police detective from the Astoria Area Command office is the lead investigator. No further information for release until positive identification has been made.
