Linn Detectives Make Arrest in Murder

Detectives believe Matzke acted alone and there were no witnesses to the murder. The robbery charge stems from Matzke stealing money from Miller after his death.

(ALBANY, Or.) - Hands cuffed Linn County Sheriff Bruce Riley reports his detectives have made an arrest for the murder of Tim Miller.

On May 9, 2014, Detectives received a full confession from Donald Arthur Matzke, 43 years old of Sweet Home. Matzke has been arrested and lodged in the Linn County Jail for Murder and Robbery I.

Linn Deputies Find Body in Pond

The body, a white male adult, has not been positively identified. Sheriff Riley advises that the investigation is continuing and more information will be released as it becomes available.

(SWEET HOME, OR) - Death investigation Linn County Sheriff Bruce Riley reports his deputies have recovered a body from a pond near Sweet Home.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office received a call today, May 7, 2014, at 11:56 a.m. reporting a body was face down in a pond located in the 25000 block of Crescent Hill Road which is approximately 7 miles south of Sweet Home.

Unlicensed Contractor Will Go to Prison: Jeffrey Woodhouse Targeted Elderly Customers Door-to-Door

Last week, Linn County Circuit Court Judge Carol R. Bispham sentenced Jeffrey Woodhouse to a new 13 months in prison for theft and working as an unlicensed contractor in the Sweet Home case.

(SALEM) - Jeffrey Woodhouse A construction con man will do prison time for stealing money from an elderly Sweet Home couple who took out a home loan to make a down payment on property improvements.

The couple paid Jeffrey Woodhouse $4,400 to replace siding and paint trim - work he never even started. In fact, the day after the scam, Woodhouse entered prison on similar charges involving other victims.

Snowmobile Crash Into Tree Kills Lebanon Man

The victim suffered a severe head injury. Approximately one hour later, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

(ALBANY, Or.) - Lifeflight at fatal snowmobile crash, 3-22-14 A fatal crash Saturday involving a snowmobile rider from Lebanon is under investigation by Linn County deputies. Sheriff Bruce Riley says the victim in the crash, George Elmer Eichner, 67, was wearing a helmet.

The crash happened at approximately 4:00 p.m. Linn County 9-1-1 dispatch received a call reporting the crash was near Hoodoo Ski Bowl on the Santiam Pass.

Man Drowns While Scuba Diving in Clear Lake

Dive personnel located the diver's body 40 feet underwater approximately 100 yards north of the Clear Lake Lodge.

(ALBANY) - Death investigation Linn County Sheriff deputies are investigating a drowning that occurred at Clear Lake, located on Hwy 126 near the Santiam Pass.

Sunday at 12:23 p.m. the sheriff's office received a 9-1-1 call reporting that a group of three men had been scuba diving and one did not surface.

Advice from the Linn County Sheriff to keep residents safe and alive.

(ALBANY) - Linn deputies in the snow Linn County Sheriff Bruce Riley reports his deputies have been extremely busy over the last few days. Since the snow began to fall last Thursday, deputies responded to 210 weather related calls for service.

These calls included 53 injury & non-injury motor vehicle crashes, 63 motorist assist calls, 76 traffic hazards, and numerous welfare checks, abandoned vehicles, agency and person assists

Lyons Man Dies While Committing a Burglary

Deputies have identified the victim as Dustin Joe Harris, 36-years old, of Lyons.

(LYONS OR) - Death investigation Linn County Undersheriff Bruce Riley reports deputies are investigating a suspicious death that occurred during a burglary of an abandoned plywood mill in Lyons.

On August 6, 2013 at 12:16 P.M., the Linn County 9-1-1 Center received a call reporting a fire and the discovery of a body in a building currently operated by Hood Lumber.

Detectives Investigate Murder of Lebanon Man

Mr. Klavano was an avid outdoorsman who spent a considerable amount of time camping in the Cascade Mountain Range of Eastern Linn County making his living as a trapper.

(ALBANY) - 48-year old Wayne Keith Klavano Linn County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the murder of a Lebanon man whose body was discovered Monday evening.

On July 30, at approximately 6:15 pm, Keith and Sharon Klavano, of Lebanon, reported to the Sheriff's Office they had found the body of their son, Wayne Keith Klavano, age 48, at his campsite located in a remote area off of the Upper Soda Fork Road about 10 miles north of Highway 20.

One Dies, Several Hurt in Linn County Crash

A 70-year old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene; several others were transported to the hospital for treatment.

(ALBANY) - Fatal crasn in Oregon-6-15-13 Oregon State Police (OSP) are continuing the investigation into Saturday afternoon's two vehicle fatal traffic crash at the intersection of Highway 99E and Lake Creek Lane in Linn County.

The crash resulted in the death of an adult male and serious injuries to 5 other people. All names will be released Sunday morning.

University of Oregon Student Drowned at Tamolitch Falls

(ALBANY) - Police Lights The Linn County Sheriff's Office reports that a 21 year old University of Oregon student has drowned in east Linn County.

The victim is identified as Alex James Rovello from Portland, Oregon, a student at the University of Oregon. Alex was also a member of the U of O Tennis Team.
