Illegal Marijuana Grow Operation in Willamette Valley Busted

Estimated value of the marijuana plants, had they been allowed to reach maturity, is approximately $1.8 million dollars.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) -  marijuana grow operation A man living in the United States illegally, has been arrested while he was tending to a large scale marijuana grow operation in rural Linn County.

Linn County Sheriff's Bruce Riley said detectives determined that the suspect was living in, and tending to the marijuana grow site, which caused damage to the surrounding land, and to the local streams by the cutting of small trees and brush, depositing trash, and littering the area with chemicals and irrigation tubing.

Facebook Post Leads to Man`s Arrest for Killing Brothers Dog

This is the second animal abuse arrest the Linn County Sheriff's Office has made within the past week.

(SWEET HOME, Ore. ) - Animal Abuse Arrest A Sweet Home, Oregon man has been arrested for killing his own brothers dog.

27-year-old Brandon Clark was arrested after the Linn County Sheriff's Office Animal Control received reports last week about a Facebook post that a dog had to be put down by it's owner after it received injuries from it being thrown to the ground.

(MT. ANGEL, Ore. ) - BREAKING NEWS Several Willamette Valley police agencies have been working throughout the night, trying to resolve a hostage situation in Mt. Angel, Oregon.

Mt. Angel police tell Salem-News.com that officers were called to the home at 775 St. Mary's Avenue in Mt. Angel at 2:34 a.m. Saturday morning, and called Woodburn Police and the Marion County Sheriff's Office for assistance.

Oregon Couple Arrested for Drowning Child in Bathtub

Noelle Watkins died shortly after medics arrived on scene.

(INDEPENDENCE, Ore. ) - BathTub Death Police in Independence have arrested two people in connection with the drowning death of a 2-year-old child earlier this year.

Lt. Rick Igou says 26-year-old Rebecca Watkins, and 26-year-old Codey Campbell, both of Independence, were arrested in connection to the February 24 drowning death of Watkins' two-year-old daughter, Noelle Watkins.

Salem Man Tries to Elude Police; Slams into Dump Truck

The suspect, along with a long list of new charges, also had a warrant for his arrest out of Polk County.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Police Chase Oregon State Police arrested a Salem man Thursday afternoon following his brief attempt to elude and injury traffic crash on Hyacinth Road NE at Salem Parkway in Salem.

Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings says at approximately 3:25 p.m., an OSP trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop southbound in the area of Portland Road NE and Hyacinth Road NE on a 1997 Mercury Sable for an equipment lighting violation.

In May, the SEC warned investors about possible scams involving marijuana-related investments, saying fraudsters often try to exploit new growth industries by manipulating stocks.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Marijuana Stock Busts The Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday charged four promoters with ties to the Pacific Northwest for manipulating the securities of several microcap companies, including marijuana-related stocks that the agency has warned investors about in recent weeks.

The SEC alleges that the four promoters bought inexpensive shares of thinly traded penny stock companies on the open market and conducted pre-arranged, manipulative matched orders and wash trades to create the illusion of an active market in these stocks.
