Saxton’s Career Night Falls Short of Win over Arizona State

(Tempe, Ariz) - Beavers logo Sophomore Camille Saxton (Balzac, Alberta) hit a career-high .444 with a best 15 kills, but the Oregon State volleyball team (8-18, 1-11) fell in three to Arizona State (28-30, 19-25, 16-25) on Friday evening in Wells Fargo Arena.

“The first set was the killer – we came back from 18-23, and we had swings at set point that we didn’t put away,” head coach Taras Liskevych said. “Our passing didn’t allow our middles to get many balls, and our outside hitters didn’t do their job other than Camille Saxton, who hit .444. We lost the serving battle, and it’s tough when you’re losing to get out of the funk and orchestrate a way to win.”

Sawatzky Tabbed Academic All-District 8 First Team

(CORVALLIS, Oregon) - Beavers logo Oregon State Senior Jill Sawatzky (St. Andrews, Manitoba) was tabbed a CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District 8 First Team selection for volleyball, announced Thursday. Sawatzky is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration.

Sawatzky, a 6-2 outside hitter, is a two-time Pac-10 All-Academic First Team selection and 2010 Everyday Champion. The Business Administration with option in Marketing major has been named to the Dean’s List every term at Oregon State, while tallying perfect 4.0 GPAs in eight of her 11 terms attended.

Oregon State Wrestling Set For Intrasquad Saturday

(CORVALLIS, Oregon) - Beavers logo The Oregon State wrestling team will give its fans one final chance to catch the squad in action Saturday when the Beavers participate in their annual intrasquad matchup at legendary Gill Coliseum. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m. PT.

Fans are invited to come to the intrasquad free of charge. It is the final open event for the Beavers prior to their season opener, which is scheduled for Nov. 13 at No. 2 Boise State. The Beavers, meanwhile, will open the season No. 22 in the NWCA/USA Today Division I Coaches Poll, which was released last week.

Oregon State Men’s Golf Finishes Second At Pacific Invitational

(STOCKTON, Calif.) - Beavers logo The Oregon State men’s golf team held its position on Wednesday to finish in second place at the 12-team Pacific Invitational.

The Beavers finished with a 6-under 277-281-288--846 at the par-71, 6,757-yard Brookside Country Club for their highest finish of the fall season. They finished sixth at the Husky Invitational and third at the Cabo Collegiate and Alister MacKenzie Invitational.

Women’s Golf To Compete At Inaugural Pac-10/SEC Challenge

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Beavers logo The Oregon State women’s golf team will conclude its fall season at the inaugural Pac-10/SEC Women’s Golf Challenge Friday through Sunday at Stanford, Calif.

The tournament includes 21 teams from the Pacific-10 Conference and Southeastern Conference playing 54 holes over three days at the par-71, 6,103-yard Stanford Golf Course. The field includes 10 teams ranked in the Top 25, including six of the top 10. Arizona State is only school from the two conferences not competing.

Oregon State Men’s Golf Remains In Second At Pacific Invitational

(STOCKTON, Calif.) - Beavers logo The Oregon State men’s golf team remains in second place after the second day of competition on Tuesday at the 12-team Pacific Invitational.

The Beavers shot a 3-under 281 on Tuesday after firing a 7-under 277 on Monday and sit 15 strokes behind host Pacific University, which got a tournament, course and program record 10-under 61 from T.J. Bordeaux. Marquette is in third at 3-under 565 and Fresno State is in fourth at 1-under 567

Motomochi Aces 12th Hole, Tied For Lead At Pacific Invitational

(STOCKTON, Calif.) - Beavers logo Oregon State junior Jonnie Motomochi made a hole-in-one on the 135-yard, par-three 12th hole and fired a 6-under 65 to tie for the individual lead after the first round at the Pacific Invitational on Monday.

The Beavers are in second place overall at the 12-team tournament after shooting a 7-under 277 at the par-71, 6,757-yard Brookside Country Club, trailing only host Pacific University, which shot a 12-under 272. Marquette is in third with a 4-under 280 and Saint Mary’s College is in fourth with a 3-under 281.

Oregon State Women`s Soccer - Wetzel Has Career Day for Senior Day Win

Oregon State’s 15 wins this season is best in program history

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Beavers logo Senior Courtney Wetzel had a career day as the No. 15 Oregon State women’s soccer team shutout Arizona 3-0 Sunday afternoon on Senior Day. Wetzel tied her career best for points in a game with a goal and two assists in front of friends and family in her last game at Paul Lorenz Field.

“It’s good to go out like that,” Wetzel said following the match. “Once we scored, we knew we could put the team away. It relieved a lot of pressure and we just took it from there.”

Beavers Finish Eighth at Pac-10 Championships

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Beavers logo The Oregon State women’s cross country team finished eighth Saturday at the Pacific-10 Cross Country Championships at the Jefferson Golf Course in Seattle, Wash.

“Our top-five really ran well today,” Oregon State women’s cross country coach Kelly Sullivan said following the race Saturday morning. “When you have five top-25 teams in your conference you don’t have a normal conference. We finished eight last year at the Pac-10 Championships and then finished ninth at the NCAA West Regional so we’re happy with how things went.”
