Former Albany Mayor Convicted of Violating State Tax Laws

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Marion County Circuit Court The for mayor of Albany, Oregon, Eugene Belhumeur, was convicted today for violations of the state’s tobacco tax laws.

The former Albany area tobacco store retailer who owned and operated Snooky’s in Albany, pleaded guilty in Marion County Circuit Court to charges of Unlawful Distribution of tobacco and tax related charges.

Meth Raid Sends Two Albany Women to Jail

The raid was conducted by members of the Linn Drug Task Force consisting of the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Albany and Lebanon Police Departments.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Crystal Kay Pearsall and Ashley Marie Coats were arrested during the early morning Albany, Oregon drug raid Two Albany women were arrested during a drug raid early this morning. Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says the raid happened at about 5:42 AM.

"Seized during the raid were dealer quantities of methamphetamine, scales, packaging material, drug paraphernalia, computers, US currency, electronic currency counter and a firearm."

Albany Police Seek Help in Locating Bank Robbery Suspect

Investigators hope that anyone with information on the possible identity of the suspect will call the Albany Police Department Detective Unit.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Suspect in Tuesday bank robbery in Albany Albany's Bank of America branch at 1250 SE Waverly Drive was robbed Tuesday at 11:48 AM. Police say the suspect left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is a male with short hair of unknown color, approximately 50 to 55 years old, five foot ten inches to six feet tall, and approximately 200 pounds.

School Bus Crash Injures Two Albany Women

None of the children aboard the bus were injured in the early morning crash.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Crash with school bus in Albany, Oregon 10-16-07 Two Albany area women were injured Tuesday morning after they crashed into each other and then struck an Albany School District school bus on Highway 34 at the intersection of Oakville Road in Linn County.

The bus was stopped on Highway 34 at the Oakville Road intersection waiting to make a left hand turn from Highway 34 onto Oakville Road when it was struck. The bus was not moving at the time of the crash.

Skeletal Remains Found by Hunter Near Albany

Preliminary findings indicate the victim may be a Caucasian male who has been deceased from two to 12 months

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Skeletal remains were discovered by a hunter in a remote area of Linn County Saturday afternoon. Sheriff Tim Mueller in Linn County says the human skeleton was found near McCully Mountain Road, south of Lyons. Mueller say deputies responded to the area and confirmed that it was in fact human.

"Linn County Sheriff's Detectives and members of the Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Post conducted an evidence search on Sunday and recovered the remains, which were then sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Portland."

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Images of people who bone marrow transplants have saved The Albany Fire Department will be hosting a bone marrow drive on Tuesday, October 9th at Fire Station 11, located at 110 SE 6th Avenue, from 7:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

You must be between the ages of 18 to 60, meet the health guidelines, fill out a form, give a cheek cell swab, and be willing to donate to any patient in need.

Couple Busted for Meth During Early Morning Raid in Albany

Sheriff Tim Mueller reports that his deputies seized a dealer quantity of Methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging material, smoking devices and paraphernalia during the raid.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Oregon meth suspects, Helen Alice Mundt and 46-year old John Dale Hart Linn County deputies executed a search warrant today at 5:30 AM at the Heatherdale Trailer Court, 950 Airport Rd. Space #52 in Albany. Sheriff Tim Mueller reports that his deputies seized a dealer quantity of Methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging material, smoking devices and paraphernalia during the raid.

Arrested at the scene were 52-year old Helen Alice Mundt and 46-year old John Dale Hart. Both were charged with Unlawful Delivery and Possession of Methamphetamine.

Motorcyclist Found Dead at Crash Scene Near Albany

This intersection is located near the city limits of Albany south of where Oakville Rd crosses the Calapooia River. The crash is still under investigation.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Police lights Deputies in Linn County are investigating a fatal single vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Oakville Road last night. The crash was discovered by 1st Sergeant Art Sprague with the Linn Sheriff's Office while on patrol Monday morning at 12:42 AM.

Albany Homes Retested for Lead and Copper in Drinking Water‏

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Girl drinking water Nine of 60 Albany homes that were retested in June 2007 for lead and copper in the drinking water from their taps exceeded the EPA action level for lead in drinking water, according to Jim Young, Water Distribution Supervisor for the City of Albany.

"The City has found no indication of lead in City's water distribution system; the problem is with the plumbing in the homes," Young said.

Albany Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect

Police arrested the man they believe was responsible for the armed robbery.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 28-year old Marshall Lee Jackson of Albany Albany Police Department responded to the Willamette Community Bank at 333 SE Lyon Street today on the report of a robbery in progress.

Captain Eric Carter with Albany Police says bank employees reported that a white male adult entered the bank just before 10:00 AM, presented a note that demanded money, and then fled the area on foot.

"The suspect, armed with a handgun, made off with an undisclosed amount of money."
