Man Alleged to Admire Campus Killers Busted at Linn Benton

(ALBANY, Ore.) - 26-year old Orion W. Cannon of Corvallis was arrested and charged with Attempted Unlawful Use of a Weapon A student has been arrested at Linn Benton College for allegedly making statements about school shooters, issuing threats and purchasing a rifle that some students say he planned to use against them on campus.

It began January 31st when Albany Police Department received information from security staff at the Linn Benton Community College who had taken a report from a witness. The witness reported, Orion W. Cannon, made recent statements about admiring school shootings, and general threats against students at LBCC, where he is currently enrolled as a student.

Albany Ends Photo Red Light Warning Period (VIDEO)

Albany Police say people who run the light at Queen Avenue and Geary Street will face enforcement.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Albany drivers will be fined for doing what this driver was captured in the act of doing; blowing the red light at the intersection of Queen Avenue and Geary Street Albany Police say that since October 2007, a Photo Red Light camera has been capturing red light violations at the intersection of Queen Avenue and Geary Street.

During the months of October and November 2007, 291 warning letters were sent to registered owners of the vehicles that were photographed violating the red light at this intersection.

Kidnap and Meth Arrests Made in Linn County

Police are seeking more witnesses in the case.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Suspects in a recent meth and kidnapping arrest in Albany, Oregon 12-7-07 Detectives are investigating a kidnapping that occurred on December 4th in the Crawfordsville area.

The search warrant led to two arrests and the discovery of what Mueller describes as user amounts of methamphetamine. A large amount of stolen property was also recovered from the residence and returned to its rightful owner.

Grants Pass Man Arrested After 40-Mile Attempt to Elude

The arrest occurred after officers successfully deployed spike strips and deflated at least one tire on his vehicle.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - handcuffed man Oregon State Police troopers arrested a Grants Pass-area man Thursday night after he attempted to elude State, county and city officers on Interstate 5 between Eugene and Albany.

At approximately 7:50 PM an Oregon State Police trooper attempted to stop a Ford Windstar van northbound Interstate 5 near milepost 196 for traveling 85 mph in a 50 mph construction speed zone.

Albany Police on the Lookout for Two Armed Men

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Two suspect sought by Albany, Oregon Police Albany Police are looking for two armed suspects, and they hope somebody in the public can help them locate these two subjects wanted in connection with two separate incidents.

"Both subjects were reported to have been armed during the commission of their crime and should be considered armed at this time," Detective Sergeant Marv Hammersley said.

Freezing Fog Blamed Partly in Multi Car Crash on I-5

One driver was seriously injured and had to be extricated by emergency responders.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Early morning crash in Linn County, Oregon 11-25-07 Police say freezing fog contributed to hazardous driving conditions early Sunday morning in southern Linn County.

It kept officers and emergency responders busy covering numerous traffic crashes included one on Interstate 5 north of Harrisburg that closed the freeway for at least two hours.

Peak Sun Silicon Corporation will construct a photovoltaic silicon manufacturing facility in Millersburg.

(SALEM, Ore.) - solar cell Oregon continues to be the business location of choice for solar energy companies, with Peak Sun, a photovoltaic silicon manufacturing company, announcing that construction of the first phase of a facility in Millersburg will begin with an $18 million investment.

The project will initially employ 50 workers, with growth to 500 and an additional capital investment of $700 million during phase 2, estimated for completion in 2011.

Man`s Body Located by Searchers Near Quartzville

The cause of death is undetermined at this time pending an autopsy

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Death investigation A Sweet Home man was found dead yesterday afternoon after an overnight search led teams to the Quartzville area. Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says 53-year old Ricky Dean Hurse was picking mushrooms Saturday approximately three miles from Quartzville Road near the 600 line when he was reported as overdue.

"He was reported overdue by his girlfriend at approximately 11:30 PM Saturday night when he failed to return home," Mueller stated. He says deputies, members of the Linn County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Post and the Sheriff's Mounted Posse responded to the area and searched throughout the night and Sunday.

Police Say Dispute Over Pregnancy Led to Homicide

(ALBANY, Ore.) - 27-year old Christopher G. Weston of Lyone, Oregon has been arrested for homicide. Deputies in Linn County responded to a report of a suicide November 1st at 147 6th Street in Lyons, but they say initial reports of a self-inflicted gunshot wound were untrue.

Today they announced that a person has been arrested for homicide in the case.
