Two Armed Robberies Reported Friday Night in Yamhill County

The suspect in both robberies matches the same description. He is a Hispanic man, in his 20's, about 5'7", short hair and medium weight and build.

(LAFAYETTE, Ore.) - top of police car Friday evening was busy for Yamhill County police agencies as two armed robberies occurred within an hour of each other.

Around 7:30 PM, Yamhill County Sheriff's deputies were called to a robbery at the Bakery and Tacos el Pad Reno, 621 NE Third, in Lafayette where a lone Hispanic man reportedly entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded cash.

81% of Yamhill County Businesses Pass OLCC Minor Sales Check

The agency views 81% compliance as positive.

(YAMHILL, Ore.) - Liquor store 43 of 53 businesses in Yamhill County passed an Oregon Liquor Control Commission minor sales check on March 21st by refusing to sell alcohol to a minor.

The 81 percent passing rate is above the statewide average of 78 percent. The commission performs the minor sales checks in an effort to reduce drinking by minors, which is a serious problem throughout the state.

Crash Kills Motorcyclist in Yamhill County

The 75-year old rider was passing a vehicle when the crash happened.

(COVE ORCHARD, Ore.) - Crash at Cove Orchard, Oregon A Banks-area man died Sunday evening from injuries suffered earlier in the day when his motorcycle struck the side of a turning sport utility vehicle on Highway 47 in the town of Cove Orchard in Yamhill County.

Police say the four occupants in the sport utility vehicle were treated and released for minor injuries.

City of Dundee Approves Video Franchise for Verizon

The company expects to offer FiOS TV service in Washington County early next year.

(DUNDEE, Ore. ) - verizon_image Residents of the Yamhill County community of Dundee are a major step closer to having a real choice for their television services, thanks to a newly approved agreement authorizing Verizon to offer its FiOS TV service, delivered over the most advanced fiber-optic network straight to customers' homes.

In a unanimous vote, the Dundee City Council granted a video franchise to Verizon Tuesday night, paving the way for video choice for local citizens.

In addition to Dundee, Verizon has been granted video franchises by the city of Newberg and 10 cities in Washington County, as well as by Washington County itself.

Oregon Inmates Use Prosthesis to Smuggle Tobacco into Jail

Tobacco was banished from the Yamhill County Jail in 1991.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - yamhill county sheriff Four people are accused of trying to smuggle chewing tobacco into the Yamhill County Jail by hiding it in a prosthetic leg.

Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree says an inmate faked a fall and damage to the leg, and a former inmate picked it up for repair.

Deputies said when the leg came back, they found about two cans worth of chewing tobacco sealed in foil and hidden in a hollow section.

McMinnville Man Faces Murder Charge After Stabbing Saturday

Bradley Scott Seifried, of McMinnville faces one count of murder.

(DAYTON) - Yamhill County Sheriff's Deputies and Oregon State Police responded Saturday with medical personnel to 14145 SE Stringtown Road, in Dayton, following a report that an injured woman needed medical attention at that location.

Upon arrival, Deputies located the body of 46-year old Ann Claire Kreder, of that address, the apparent victim of a stabbing.

Multiple Stabbing in Sheridan

(SHERIDAN) - stabbing investigation Deputies in Yamhill County responded to a report of a stabbing early Saturday morning at the Green Frog Restaurant and Lounge in Sheridan, Oregon and found two victims stabbed as a result of an argument.

They say John Hillebrand was taken by Life Flight to OHSU where he underwent emergency surgery for wounds sustained in the assault.

James B. Kinslow, the other man involved, was taken to the Willamette Valley Medical center where he was treated and released for minor stab wounds also sustained in the assault.

Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree says deputies immediately located 37-year old Brian Martin Weant at the scene. He was arrested and later booked into the Yamhill County Jail on one count of Assault I, a measure 11 crime, he is lodged in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Contest Underway to Name The Yamhill County Transit District

The contest is scheduled to run from September 1st to September 30th. The Yamhill County Commissioners will decide the winner of the contest.

(MCMINNVILLE) - Yamhill bus Yamhill County has announced it will give away a gift basket containing products from various Yamhill County vendors as part of a contest to name the county’s transit district.

When submitting an entry please include your name and contact information along with your suggested name for the district.

Upon recommendation from the local Yamhill Transportation Committee (YTC), the Board of Commissioners approved the formation of an ORS County Service District.
