Death Investigation: Body Located at Base of Cape Lookout

Once the body has been positively identified, investigators will work with out-of-state authorities to help notify next of kin.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - Cape Lookout and the beach below Oregon State Police, with the assistance of Tillamook County Medical Examiner and Tillamook County Sheriff's Office, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a deceased male on a rocky section of beach near the base of a cliff in Cape Lookout State Park.

There is no indication that the death is the result of a crime and positive identification is pending according to OSP Sergeant Todd Hoodenpyl.

Police Release Photo of Missing Fisherman

The Coast Guard located the boat Friday afternoon in the Pacific Ocean, about two miles off shore from Nehalem Bay, overturned, with no sign of the missing man.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - Missing fisherman, 62-year old Robert Shaw of Washougal, Washington, Police are hoping a photo may lead to the location of a missing fisherman, 62-year old Robert Shaw of Washougal, Washington, who failed to return to Wheeler, Oregon in his 12-foot fishing vessel after a Thursday fishing trip, his wife said.

Shaw reportedly went fishing alone on his 12-foot boat Thursday in the area of the lower Nehalem Bay in northern Tillamook County.

Coast Guard Suspends Search for Missing Fisherman (PHOTOS)

Coast Guard crews and local agencies searched for a 65-year old man who was reported overdue from a fishing trip.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - An overturned skiff found by the Coast Guard while conducting a search for a missing boater near Nehalem, Ore., Friday, Oct. 9, 2009. The Coast Guard suspended the search for an overdue 65-year-old fisherman who was reported missing in Oregon's Nehalem Bay Friday.

The Coast Guard searched for the fisherman approximately five hours before suspending the search pending any new information that would assist in locating the man.

Only two people out of six were wearing their life jackets when the boat rolled over near Manhattan Beach, Oregon.

(MANHATTAN BEACH, Ore.) - Coast Guard Group/Air Station Astoria launched a rescue helicopter crew The Coast Guard, Rockaway Beach, Oregon Police and Fire, the Tillamook Sheriff's department, Nehalem Fire and Tillamook County EMS responded to a report of six people in distress after the 21-foot boat they were in capsized at the entrance to Nehalem Bay, Monday.

Federal Aid Dries Up for Some Oregon Renters (AUDIO)

The Northwest Oregon Housing Authority says its counterparts in several other areas of the state are having similar problems.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - For rent sign Oregon's homeless rate has increased at least 35 percent in the past year, and now Oregon families who depend on federal Section 8 vouchers to pay their rent are wondering if they'll continue to receive them, or be among the homeless - and with good reason.

Last week, the Housing Authority for Clatsop, Columbia and Tillamook counties told 285 families that their rental assistance will end as of July 1st.

Video of Fishing Vessel Network`s Capsizing Released

The Coast Guard released the clip of the tragic incident in Tillamook Bay today.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - Coast Guard 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station Tillamook Bay The U.S. Coast Guard has released video of a tragic capsizing that took place early last Friday morning in Oregon's Tillamook Bay. The heart wrenching scenes were recorded by a Coast Guard volunteer named Sherry Newman.

In one clip, we see the fishing vessel Network struck by a large wave while the crew was struggling to make headway in the tremendous surf, very close to the end of the north jetty at the mouth of Tillamook Bay.

The Coast Guard 47-foot motor lifeboat that responded to aid the Network stayed very close during the ordeal. It seems amazing that the Coast Guard boat was actually there as the tragedy occurred. It speaks to the extreme conditions that overtook the fishing vessel.

Search for Missing Fishing Boat Crew Suspended

Casualty and pollution investigators from Coast Guard Sector Portland were dispatched to Tillamook to investigate the capsizing and a sheen of diesel fuel that appeared in the water.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - Capsized fishing boat Network in Tillamook Bay The search for two men near the north jetty of Tillamook Bay, Oregon, was suspended Friday at 4:31 PM, Coast Guard officials report.

They say the two men were part of a crew from the 42-foot crab boat Network from Garibaldi, Oregon, that capsized and broke up at 7:42 AM. Coast Guard crews including two 47-foot motor lifeboat crews from Station Tillamook Bay, and three HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crews from Air Station Astoria, searched 15 square miles for seven hours in order to locate the men.

The capsizing was initially reported by a Coast Guard 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station Tillamook Bay that witnessed the event. One of the three men aboard the vessel was able to swim to shore where he was taken to the Tillamook hospital by fire crews from Rockaway Beach and Garibaldi. Contrary to previous reports, none of the men were wearing lifejackets.

Two Men Remain Missing After Boat Capsizes at Tillamook Bay

The Coast Guard spent the day searching Tillamook Bay for the missing men.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - Oregon Coast Guard The Coast Guard says they responded to a capsized fishing vessel near the north jetty at Tillamook, Oregon this morning.

A Coast Guard 47-foot smallboat crew from Station Tillamook Bay, reported the capsizing of the 40-foot fishing vessel Network and immediately responded to the area.

The Coast Guard Station Tillamook Bay confirmed there were three people on board the vessel. One of the three men managed to swim to shore and was picked up by Coast Guard and fire crews from Rockaway Beach and Garibaldi, Oregon.
