The Salem-Keizer School District want to help you protect your children from internet crimes.

(SALEM) - Young Internet user The Salem-Keizer School District is holding a Internet Safety Workshop next week at Waldo Middle School to help parents protect their children from internet crimes.

Topics will include:

• Internet predators - How they prey on children & the tactics they use.

• Cyberbullying - what it is and how to address it.

• Social Networking Sites – Such as MySpace and Facebook.

• Email and Instant Messaging.

Governor Unveils Plan to Strengthen Public Schools, Higher Ed

‘Education Enterprise’ will stabilize school funding, restore lost programs the Governor said.

(SALEM) - Governor Ted Kulongoski in a Salem, Oregon classroom Governor Kulongoski Tuesday issued the details of his "Education Enterprise," a blueprint for reducing class sizes, restoring lost academic programs, and expanding access to higher education for Oregon students.

"My Education Enterprise Plan will reduce class sizes and provide Oregon students access to a quality education, so they have the tools to succeed," the Governor told a gathering of school officials, teachers, and community leaders outside Stephens Middle School in Salem.

School is Starting, Police Ask Drivers to Pay Attention

(SALEM) - School zone in Salem, Oregon The end of summer is just about here and children of all ages will be returning to school next week. We have all probably become accustomed to driving normal speeds through school zones during the summer months.

The Salem Police Department would like to remind everybody that the children will again be out and about coming to and from school, and we should all make sure we exercise caution when driving, especially around schools.

Also, please remember that the School Zone speed guidelines will again be in effect when school resumes.
