Crews Battle Four More House Fires in Portland

Includes safety tips to keep you and your family alive this winter.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Portland Fire and Rescue in Oregon logo Portland Fire and Rescue has responded to 4 other house fires since the early morning fire at SE 81st and Taylor. 3 of the 4 fires are related to the cold weather, according to the agency's spokesman, Lt. Dave Centers.

"All fires were a single alarm which brings 4 Engines, 1 Truck, 1 Rescue, 2 Chiefs, and 2 Investigators. Due to the extreme weather a Rehab Unit was called for on each fire. 27 to 30 Firefighters responded on each the 4 fires. At this time no injuries were reported at any of the fires."

Crews Battle House Fire in Portland (AMAZING PHOTOS)

The early morning temperatures were so cold that water froze as it was sprayed on the fire.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Portland, Oregon house fire 12-7-09 Crews responded to a residential fire at 306 SE 79th Avenue at 5:14 a.m. When fire crews arrived at 5:17 a.m., they found smoke coming from the house. All occupants were out of the house, according to Lt. Allen Oswalt with Portland Fire and Rescue.

"Fire crews immediately began an interior attack on the fire. The fire had gotten into the walls and attic of the home, which made firefighting operations difficult."

Police Investigate Fatal Stabbing on Southeast Powell Blvd.

Police say the stabbing occurred approximately 9:30 p.m. last night.

Occupant Arrested in Portland Apartment Fire

One resident was arrested and charged with one count of 1st-degree Arson I and one count of first-degree Arson as a Measure 11 offense.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Man in handcuffs Crews responded to an apartment fire at 1434 SW Morrison at 3:29 p.m. Friday. When fire crews arrived at 3:31 p.m., they found dark smoke coming from a third story apartment window, according to Lt. Rich Tyler with Portland Fire & Rescue.

`Unmarked` Portland Police Car Stolen

This vehicle does not have any police markings on the exterior of the vehicle. However, there is a siren and blue and red lights in the grill of the car that are not visible unless activated.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Black Chevy Impala four-door unmarked police car An unmarked Portland Police vehicle was stolen this morning from the residence of a Portland Police Officer in Damascus, Oregon.

Detective Mary Wheat with Portland Police says the vehicle is a four door black Chevy Impala with an Oregon License plate of 789DDN.

Crash on Highway 99W Leaves Portland Woman Dead

The Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to investigate the crash. South bound Hwy. 99W was closed for several hours during the investigation.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Fatal crash in Oregon on 99w 12-1-09 Officials in Washington County say a woman died Wednesday when she pulled into the path of oncoming traffic on southbound Highway 99W. The driver of the vehicle that struck her suffered minor injuries.

No charges are expected to be filed, according to Sgt. Dave Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Retail gas prices continue to hold steady with prices about the same as last week, and within a few cents of where they were a month ago.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gas nozzle Retail gas prices continue to hold steady with prices about the same as last week, and within a few cents of where they were a month ago, according to Oregon AAA's Marie Dodds.

She says the national average for regular unleaded dropped a penny to $2.63 and Oregon's statewide average also fell a cent to $2.75.

Portland`s Water Boiling Notice Ends

Officials say taps are tested & water is safe to drink.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Glass of water
Residents and businesses west of the Willamette River may now drink tap water without boiling it first. Additional testing of drinking water has shown no further presence of bacterial contamination.

The Portland Water Bureau recommends all residents and businesses flush all taps for 2 minutes or until the water runs cold before consuming for the first time.

Portland Residents West of Willamette River Must Boil Water

What's going on with Portland's water?

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Salem-News.com A boil water notice is in effect for the City of Portland west of the Willamette River and customers of Palatine Hill, Burlington and Valley View water districts. This means that water from the tap should not be consumed in any form unless it has been brought to a rolling boil for a full minute.

This notice is required by the State and Federal government when water quality standards are suspected of being compromised.
