Regardless of who wins the presidential vote, the Maidan will be disappointed.

(LONDON OilPrices.com) - Ukraine flags Having ridden roughshod over Ukraine, Russia's annexation of the Crimea is now over and a new chapter in Ukrainian politics is about to begin—but it won't be much different than the last chapter, with the same old faces surfacing for May presidential elections.

In the aftermath of the Maidan protests that overthrew president Viktor Yanukovych in February and Russia's retaliatory annexation of the Crimea in March, Ukraine has moved presidential elections forward a year to 25 May.

Taiwan: Stop Violent Crackdown against Peaceful Protesters

We have also received reports that peaceful and unarmed protesters, as well as journalists, have been beaten by the police during the crackdown, resulting in scores injured.

The jury did not hear that Edward Jr. had twice confessed that he actually murdered his father and there was no murder-for-hire.

(VALEN NORGE) - Michelle Byrom Michelle Byrom, 57, could be executed March 27 for a crime she did not commit. She was charged with hiring her son’s friend to kill her abusive husband. It is clear now that her son killed his abusive father.

Her son confessed in letters to her and to a court-appointed psychologist that he committed the crime. Byrom’s son is free on parole, and the man she supposedly hired is free.

529 Morsi Supporters Receive Death Sentences in Egypt Court

The court in Minya, south of the capital, Cairo, issued its ruling after only two sessions in which the defendants' lawyers complained they had no chance to present their case, the Associated Press news agency reports.

(CAIRO) - Egyptian security forces beating up woman; these men are who the Morsi supporters allegedly battled A court in Egypt has sentenced to death 529 supporters of ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi. They were convicted of charges including murdering a policeman and attacking police.

The group, members of the banned Muslim Brotherhood, are part of a larger trial involving more than 1,200 Morsi supporters. Egyptian authorities have cracked down harshly on Islamists since Mr Morsi was removed in July.

California Bans Retail Sale of Super-Toxic Rat Poisons

The order from the California Department of Pesticide Regulation targets products sold to the general public in retail outlets and limits super-toxic rodenticide use beyond 50 feet of manmade structures.

(SACRAMENTO) - San Joaquin kit fox California has approved a statewide ban on direct-to-consumer sale of some of the most dangerous rat poisons but loopholes still leave many wildlife species at risk.

The ban approved Tuesday, which will go into effect July 1, prohibits the sale of certain products by d-CON, the only second-generation anticoagulant rodenticide sold directly to the general public.
