Salem Woman, McMinnville Man Killed in Crash

Investigators believe icy roadways may have been a factor in the crash.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - OSP crash photo Two people died and three others received serious injuries following a Monday evening two-vehicle head-on crash on Lafayette Highway about six miles south of McMinnville.

At approximately 8:20 PM, a gold 1998 Pontiac sedan driven by 23-year-old Amanda J. McGinnis, from Salem, was northbound on Lafayette Highway near milepost 3 when it veered across the centerline into the southbound lane and hit head-on with a maroon 2004 Hyundai SUV driven by 53-year-old George E. Hatch, from Amity.

Fatal Crash Closes SE Lafayette Highway

Anyone who needs to travel between Lafayette and McMinnville should use an alternate route.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Fatal crash Oregon State Police are on the scene of a fatal traffic crash on SE Lafayette Highway near SE Stockoff Road, southeast of McMinnville.

Police say preliminary information is that a northbound passenger car with a female operator lost control on an icy bridge and spun into the southbound lane where it collided with a sport utility vehicle with four occupants.

60th Anniversary of Spruce Goose Flight Celebration

The day-long celebration on November 2nd is presented by Pratt & Whitney, it honors the plane's one and only flight.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - The only flight of the Spruce Goose The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum is honoring the one and only flight of the world-famous “Spruce Goose” at the flying boat’s home in Oregon. An entire day will be dedicated to the celebration in honor of the November 2nd 1947 flight.

Activities will include speaker presentations, special exhibitions and a 1947 themed hangar dance.

Police Search in McMinnville May Have Led to Discovery of Christopher Lampkin`s Body

Leonardo Gonzalez was indicted for the murder of Christopher Marcus Lampkin.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Christopher Lampkin The remains of a Salem man named Christopher Lampkin who has been missing since April 2006, may have been discovered on a farm on SW Oldsfield Road in McMinnville this week.

Information released today by Prosecutor Courtland Geyer confirms that a warrant, served by Salem Police, was related to the ongoing investigation into the murder of Christopher Marcus Lampkin, though he says a positive identification has not been made at this point.

Serious Injury Crash on Oregon Highway 18

The crash on Oregon Highway 18 at mile post 41, approximately 5 miles west of McMinnville has been cleared.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Photo of crash scene near McMinnville, Oregon 8-27-07 Three people were seriously injured Monday morning in a two vehicle head-on crash on Highway 18 about four miles west of McMinnville. The highway was reopened about 1:30 PM.

Police say that at approximately 10:15 AM, a 2003 Hyundai Sante Fe was eastbound on Highway 18 when, for an unknown reason, it drifted onto the gravel shoulder, then re-entered traffic and struck another car head-on.

Deputies Make Two Arrests in Grande Ronde Fires

The motive for both fires is unclear at this time police say, and their investigation is continuing.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Larry Wayne Whitley Polk County Sheriff's Office has made arrest of two males who they say are connected to the fires reported at Grand Ronde Elementary School and the Church of the Nazarene in Grand Ronde.

After continuing investigations, Polk County Deputies arrested 18-year old Larry Wayne Whitley of Grand Ronde on on July 4th at 11:48 PM.

Police Stop Dementia Patient Driving a Van

The patient with dementia left the Sheridan Care Facility in a staff member's van on Highway 18.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - osp highway 18 Oregon State Police and Yamhill County Sheriff's Office teamed together Saturday evening to stop a dementia patient driving a van that failed to stop for officers after nearly causing several head-on traffic crashes on Highway 18 west of McMinnville.

An OSP trooper used a tactical vehicle intervention maneuver to bring the van to a stop and the driver was evaluated at an area hospital then released to staff of the care facility where she was residing.

Body Found in Central Oregon Tentatively Identified as McMinnville Man

73-year old Kenneth W. Miller and 69-year old Betty Lou Japel, became the focus of a McMinnville Police Department missing person investigation May 17th after a man, identified as Gregory Allen Cole allegedly shot an Arizona police officer in Quartzite.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Kenneth Miller of Oregon Oregon State Police detectives have tentatively identified remains found in central Oregon as a missing man from the McMinnville area.

The remains were found Wednesday afternoon by a detective with the assistance of National Guard personnel while searching a section of BLM property east of Redmond.

Man Dies in Single-Car Crash on Highway 99W North of McMinnville

State troopers say the crash was reported at approximately 9:55 PM.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Crash scene at fatal Mcminnville, Oregon 6107 Police say a 21-year old man died Thursday night when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a power pole about two miles north of McMinnville on Highway 99W.

They say a Chevrolet driven by 21-year Kristopher Lawrence Becker was southbound on Highway 99W near milepost 33 when it swerved off of the roadway and struck two power poles on the driver's side. Police say they do not know what caused the crash, although alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor.
