Alcohol Related Fatal Crash Under Investigation in Linn County

A LifeFlight helicopter transported the driver of the car to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis.

(LEBANON, Ore.) - Fatal Crash investigation logo Linn County deputies are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred last night at about 9:20 PM on Old Santiam Highway, approximately 4 miles east of Lebanon in the Waterloo area.

The Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says the driver of the 1994 Buick Le Saber was identified as 47-year old Michael Mullenix of Lebanon. His passenger was identified as his wife, 51-year old Janet M. Long-Mullenix, also of Lebanon.

Backyard Burn Ban Starts June 16th in Marion and Linn Counties

These burn restrictions expand the geographical scope to include areas outside the three- and six-mile limit.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Burning ban art All open and backyard burning will be prohibited beginning June 16th in those portions of Marion and Linn Counties that lie within the Santiam Unit of Oregon Department of Forestry's North Cascade District.

The Department of Forestry is cooperating with several local fire departments including Idanha-Detroit, Gates, Mill City, Lyons, Stayton, Sublimity, Silverton, Drakes Crossing, Aumsville, Turner and Jefferson. Only permitted and approved logging slash burning and agricultural burning will be allowed depending on weather conditions.

UPDATE: Overnight Three Alarm Fire Damages Linn County Seed Company

Oregon Highway 99-E re-opened to traffic at noon.

(TANGENT, Ore.) - fire investigation image A three-alarm fire ripped through a Linn County seed company this morning.

Firefighters from five agencies are on scene putting out hot-spots.

The fire was reported just after 1:00 AM at the Beta Seed Company in Tangent by a person walking by who noticed smoke and flames coming from the building.

Police Investigating Child Drowning East of Salem

The grandparents told deputies that Johnny was last seen in his room watching a child's video.

Johnny L. Caldera, age 2 years and 11 months, was staying with his grandparents, who are his guardians, on Dogwood Street in Mill City.

At 7:56 PM Thursday evening, deputies were dispatched to the residence when the boy's grandparents found him floating in a small fish pond in their front yard.

Albany, Oregon Man Arrested After Calling in Phony Bomb Threat

The Linn County Courthouse was evacuated for approximately one hour while deputies searched for any suspicious items.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - linn county sheriff The Linn County Courthouse was evacuated this morning after a man called 911 saying he had left a bomb inside.

Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says the call came in at 7:58 AM, and the man would not say where he left the bomb.

Dispatchers were able to determine that the call originated from a payphone in downtown Albany.

Weyerhaeuser to Close Oregon Sawmill; Mill`s Planer Will Continue to Run

The facility, built in the late 1940s, produces timbers and dimensional lumber for residential and commercial construction.

(LEBANON) - sawmills in Oregon Weyerhaeuser Company announced Wednesday it will close its Bauman sawmill in Lebanon, on March 30th, affecting approximately 70 positions.

The mill’s planer, which employs approximately 50 people, will continue to operate.

Employees who are being laid off will have access to a range of information and services, including area employment services, counseling and information about internal opportunities.

Predatory Sex Offender Awaiting Trial Found Dead in Jail Cell

Billings suffered from several medical conditions including a heart condition and had a pacemaker.

(ALBANY) - Robert Allen Billings Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller reports on Sunday, Corrections Deputies in the Linn County Jail found 58-year-old Robert Allen Billings of Sweet Home, dead in his cell.

The cause of death was determined to be Coronary Failure.

Billings was arrested by Linn County Sheriff’s Detectives on January 11th, on four counts of Sex Abuse I and was awaiting trial while the investigation continued.
