Former Boy Scout Leader Arrested for Sex Crimes Against a Minor

Heck was taken into custody when he expected to meet the victim but was instead met by detectives.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Police Special Victims Unit detectives arrested 56-year old Terry James Heck on Thursday, July 6, 2023 as part of an investigation into the sexual abuse of a minor over a period of several years.

Armed Polk County Man Arrested without Injuries

The man pointed a rifle at officers in Monmouth.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Officers arrived and located the male, 21-year old Daniel Hauge Cook, a Polk County resident. He had walked west to Glazemeadow St and Hoffman Rd.

Hauge Cook pointed a rifle at the officers and refused to follow commands to put the weapon down. He fired multiple rounds into the ground and kneeled on the curb.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The acquittal of leading human rights defender Lena Hendry on charges of breaching Malaysia’s draconian censorship laws has been welcomed by film-makers, actors and artists around the world.

Ms Hendry was accused of screening the award-winning documentary No Fire Zone: The Killing Fields of Sri Lanka – a film about human rights abuses at the end of Sri Lanka’s civil war – to an invited audience in July 2013.

Traffic Stop Leads to Three Arrests, Seizure of Meth, Heroin and a Gun

Three men were arrested at the scene.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A "traffic" stop turned into much more than an infraction for the driver and occupants. Drugs and Vice Division (DVD) officers conducted a traffic stop on Southeast Stark Street at I-205 on Tuesday about 4:45 p.m. During the stop, officers gained consent of the occupants to search the vehicle.

Narcotics K-9 "Lola" was used to search the vehicle and located approximately five (5) pounds of methamphetamine and one (1) pound of heroin in a backpack in the trunk of the vehicle.

Oregon Legislature Votes to Ban the Box on Job Applications

HB 3025 will help remove barriers to employment for people with past convictions and arrests

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Oregon Senate today passed HB 3025 by a vote of 21 to 8. The legislation will prohibit employers from including questions about applicants’ criminal history on job applications. HB 3025 now heads to the House for a concurrent vote and then to Governor Kate Brown for her signature.

"As Oregonians, we believe that anyone who makes a mistake and learns from it deserves a second chance," said Tom Chamberlain, President of Oregon AFL-CIO and member of Fair Chance For All.

Two Men Stabbed During Altercation in Cave Junction

Both received stabbing injuries from a weapon belonging to one of the men.

(JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore.) - Two Cave Junction men were treated for stabbing injuries after an altercation which occurred outside of a residence in the Cave Junction area. One man was treated and released and the other was taken into surgery for treatment related to the incident.

On March 16th, 2015, at approximately 1:46 PM, the Josephine County Sheriff's Office, along with troopers from the Oregon State Police Grants Pass work site responded to a report of a stabbing which occurred at 486 South Redwood Highway in Cave Junction.

Salem Plaid Pantry Robbed Monday Night, MCSO Seeks Information

$1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect

(SALEM, Ore.) - On Monday the 23rd at about 1:00 a.m., a male, portraying to have a weapon in his pocket, entered the Plaid Pantry, located at 4617 Silverton Road NE and demanded cash.

The male is described as mixed race, approximately 6'3" tall, medium build, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue hooded jacket, dark colored pants and dark colored shoes.

UPDATE: OSP Traffic Stop Turns Into Pursuit with Shots Fired

Both Troopers involved in the pursuit have been placed on paid administrative leave.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 22-year old Gustavo Isabel Vega (CORRECTED NAME), of Boring, has now been lodged at the Marion County Jail. He is facing the charges of Parole Violation, Attempt to Elude the Police and Resisting Arrest.

The investigation into last week's event is still on-going and there is no additional information regarding this case at this time. Mr. Vega is scheduled for court on 02/04/15 at 3:00 p.m., at the Marion County Circuit Court Annex.

SWAT Stand-off with Suspect in Drive-by Shooting Ends in Arrest

OSP troopers are continuing the investigation of a drive-by shooting in Northern Klamath County

(LA PINE, Ore.) - Information from on-scene commanders indicates that just before 2:00 A.M., Sunday morning, 9-1-1 call centers received a report of shots being fired at or into a residence, south of La Pine. Troopers learned the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Gary Davis, of La Pine, had threatened a man at that location previously.

Shortly before 7:00 A.M., troopers tracked Davis to a residence in La Pine where he was staying with his girlfriend.
