Its origins lie in the Civil War and it was first proclaimed in 1868 by the Grand Army of the Republic to honor the Civil War dead.

The patriots who fought and died in the Revolutionary War made it possible for such a document to be discussed, analyzed, constructed, and ratified.

(WASHINTON D.C.) - Marine Corps Legislation currently in Congress would change the name of the Department of the Navy, to Department of the Navy and Marine Corps.

Marines all over the nation are in favor of this. U.S. Marines maintain security at Naval bases and are the nation's first combat force in many cases, to respond to war.

Wanted Posters Issued for Alleged Israeli War Criminals

A group in Israel is exposing members of its government charged with war crimes.

(JERUSALEM / SALEM) - Israeli wanted posters for war crimes By now many already know that a series of wanted posters have been issued to help identify and possibly some day bring to justice, a number of Israeli officials who are suspected of acts of genocide and illegal warfare.

The posters were created and posted by an Israeli human rights group that is maintaining a great deal of anonymity at this point.

Lena Horne first joined the mike chorus of the infamous Cotton Club at the age of sixteen, where she became a popular nightclub performer.

A tribute to the first black female West Point grad killed in Iraq.

(LOS ANGELES) - 2nd Lieutenant Emily J.T. Perez 2nd Lt. Emily J.T. Perez, age 23, deployed to Iraq in December as a Medical Service Corps officer. The young officer was killed when a makeshift bomb exploded near her Humvee during combat operations in Al Kifl, near Najaf.

Inmates on Work Crew Save Deputy`s Life

"According to EMS responders, the inmates' quick thinking and immediate action help to save the deputy's life" -Lt. Mary Lindstrand, MCSO

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - 46-year old James Robert Parker, serving time for Contempt of Court, and 45-year old Michael Wayne Smith, down on an Assault charge, thought fast and helped save a deputy's life on a jail work crew. A Multnomah County Sheriff's Office inmate work crew helped save a deputy's life‏ Friday.

Around 3:00 p.m. Friday, an MCSO Corrections deputy was overcome with medical complications while he and his inmate work crew were rendering aid to a stranded motorist.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Oregon Green Free Sixth Annual Oregon CareGrowers Cup Oregon Green Free hosted their Sixth Annual Oregon CareGrowers Cup in Gresham Oregon.

Nearly 400 patients, care-givers, and growers from around the state of Oregon came together for a banquet and award ceremony.
