(REDONDO BEACH) - Redondo Beach will observe Veterans Day 2013 at the Veterans Memorial in beautiful Veterans Park at the beach at 1 PM on Monday, the 11th of November.

The solemn observance will include reflection and remembrance, music, commentary and honors to all those members of the military who served their country. Veterans Day is a time to honor our military veterans.

Four years after the Ganjgal ambush, where the U.S. Army refused to rescue four Marines, a soldier is honored at the highest level for his heroism.

(CARLSBAD, NM) - Most Americans who pay attention to the news are familiar with the name, Dakota Myer. He's the U.S. Marine who won the Medal of Honor for heroism during the 2009 Ganjgal ambush in Afghanistan.

His actions were unquestionably above and beyond the call of duty, but the same holds true for a former Army Captain named Will Swenson who risked his life in a similar manner that morning trying to save and recover the men who took part in a mission that led them to a village called Ganjgal - which was simply a death trap.

(PARIS) - With heavy hearts we learn that veteran civil society activist late Charles Abeysekera’s (1926-1998), daughter and prominent human rights activist, Sunila Abeysekara, passed away on 9 September 2013.

Sunila’s dedication and devotedness to human rights has a resonance in the date of her death - the very first day of the 24th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. If Sunila were healthy and able to travel, she would have been in Geneva for this session.

(ARLINGTON, VA) - Marine Corps Pfc. Jonathan Reed Posey Jr., 20, of Dallas, TX was buried August 12, 2013 in Section 60 of Arlington National Cemetery.

In December 1950, Posey, assigned to L Battery, 4th Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, was serving provisionally as an infantryman with the 7th Marine Regiment at Yudam-ni in the vicinity of the Chosin Reservoir.
