Independence Day is a Popular Date for Naturalization Ceremonies

Thirty-six sailors, Marines and soldiers from 19 countries, became U.S. citizenship during the ceremony.

(OVERLAND PARK, KS) - One of the U.S. Marines who became a naturalized citizen. The July 4 holiday is a fitting time to take the oath of U.S. citizenship and many courts across the country hold naturalization ceremonies at historic locations in their community. The 2012 highlights included:

District Judge David Waxse (D. Kan.) presided at the Overland Park, Kansas ceremony, administering the oath to 95 new citizens in 104 degree heat. Congressman Kevin Yoder was a featured speaker.
