The Oregon Garden Fire Safety House to serve as life-sized teaching tool

(SILVERTON, Ore.) - Oregon Garden House The Oregon Garden Foundation is excited to announce a partnership to develop the first full-scale fire prevention and safety house in the nation. Teaming with Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF), Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM), Moonstone Garden Management, Inc., and Oregon State University (OSU), the foundation will use grant funds and donations to remodel a home located on The Oregon Garden property in Silverton into one that showcases fire-resistant landscaping and building construction on the outside and home fire prevention and safety on the inside.

The majority of people who die in a fire succumb to the heat and smoke, not flames. Having a working smoke alarm in your home doubles your chances of surviving a fire.

Building Under Construction in Albany Collapses

Three workers on the structure were not seriously injured.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Aspen Dental building The Albany Fire Department responded to 1310 Geary Street SE at 1:05 p.m. today to a reported structural collapse. Firefighters arrived at the site of the new Aspen Dental building within approximately five minutes to find the roof trusses had collapsed into a building currently under construction.

Firefighters determined workers for Mainline Construction of Mission Viejo, CA, were installing roof trusses on the structure and that three persons were on or in the structure at the time of the collapse. One worker was evaluated by firefighters, and no one was transported from the scene.

McMinnville Fire Department will be conducting a live (mock) burn of a dorm room on Thursday, September 30th at 4:00pm on the intramural field south of Renshaw Hall.

Keizer fire prevention week open house

(KEIZER, Ore.) - One of Keizer, Oregons newer fire engines The Keizer Fire District will hold its Annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Monday, October 4, 2010. Hours of the Open House are 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

Visitors will be able to see apparatus displays and get valuable fire safety information. In addition visitors can participate in fun activities and enjoy refreshments.

`Deputies Prevent Man From Lighting Himself On Fire`

The man was arrested for Attempt to Elude, (a felony) and lodged in the Washington County Jail.

(ALOHA, Ore.) - '94 Saturn Deputies are credited with preventing a man from going up in flames. Saturday night, September 25, 2010 at 11:23 p.m., a call came in about 33-year-old Julio Yanez of Aloha's alleged plan to kill himself in front of his estranged girlfriend.

Stimler said, "Deputies learned that Mr. Yanez was upset over the state of his relationship. He had planned to pour gasoline on himself and light it."

Bicyclist Struck by Amtrak Passenger Train Dies

As of 10:05 p.m. tonight the train is still blocking two Milwaukie intersections.

(MILWAUKIE, Ore.) - Death investigation A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak passenger train tonight at approximately 9:30 p.m. Officer Ulli Neitch with Milwaukie Police, says she responded to the incident quickly; it happened about half a block from the TV station.

"The incident occurred at the SE Oak Street intersection with Campbell, right next to Milwaulkie Shopping Center."

Keizer Barn Destroyed in Late Afternoon Fire - PHOTOS

Investigators are looking into reports of people leaving the area just before the fire started.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Keizer Oregon barn fire 9-12-10 Keizer Fire District crews responded to a reported Barn fire at 7198 River Road N. In Keizer, Oregon. The initial call was received at 4:22 p.m. with units arriving on scene in approximately 5 minutes.

Joel Stein, Fire Marshal with Keizer Fire, says the first unit on scene reported heavy black smoke coming from both ends of the 5000 square foot single story building.

Following San Bruno Pipeline Fire, Landowners on PG&E Pipeline Route Join Lawsuit

Many communities along the proposed pipeline route have volunteer fire departments with limited resources.

(MEDFORD, Ore.) - San Bruno Landowners along PG&E’s proposed Pacific Connector pipeline route announced today that they will ask to join a federal lawsuit brought against Oregon and the state’s Clean Water Act permitting process.

The Pacific Connector pipeline proposal sued Oregon’s agencies for deeming their application incomplete for a 230-mile, 36-inch, non-odorized pipeline.

Eight Injured in Tillamook Tour Bus Fire - PHOTOS

Police say the fire appears to be accidental.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - Bus fire, Tillamook, Oregon 9-12-10 Police say eight people were transported to hospitals in Tillamook and Portland for injuries sustained in a Sunday afternoon fire on a Raz Transportation tour bus on Highway 101 north of Tillamook.

Police say a 71-year old female from Wisconsin was taken by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland for burn and smoke inhalation injuries.
