Family Barely Escapes Home During Raging Fire

Estimated damages are $170,000.

(SALEM) - Photo from Jefferson Fire, video by Jerry Freeman On December 8, at 2:12 a.m. Jefferson Fire District was dispatched to a house fire on 1891 Steiwer Rd SE Jefferson, Oregon 97352.

Marion, Stayton, Turner Fire District and Engine 9 from Salem were also dispatched to assist with the call. At 4:24 a.m. the fire was deemed under control.

Four Alarm Fire Sweeps Columbia Spa Factory

The first reports came in around 11:30 p.m.

(JEFFERSON, OR) - Jefferson 4 alarm fire Our news photographer Jerry Freeman caught the multi-alarm fire in Jefferson, Oregon that left major damage to the property, destroying numerous structures and threatening an adjacent mobile home park.

The fire happened in the 1800 block of Talbot Rd S in Jefferson at the Columbia Spa Factory.

298 Killed in Fire at Karachi Garment Factory in Pakistan

Around 2,000 workers were present inside the factory when the fire broke out.

(FAISALABAD, Pakistan) - Fire in Karachi The death toll in the Karachi garment factory fire has risen to 298, with several dozen workers still missing or presumably dead in the basement.

Rescue workers have not been able to enter Ali Enterprises as the fire has completely destroyed the building.

Portland Fire & Rescue Battles a 5-Alarm Blaze on Hayden Island

The fire was declared under control at 7:02 AM.

(PORTLAND, OR) - 5 alarm fire, Hayden Island Portland, Oregon At 2:53 this morning, Portland Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a commercial fire at 1401 N Hayden Island Drive. Engine 17 (Hayden Island) arrived to find that heavy fire had already vented through the roof. The fire grew to 5 alarms by 4:23 AM.

This building has been vacant and secure for a number of years, but has been used for storage, which created a heavy fire load.

Firefighters Attack New Fire Starts

Multiple recreational events continue today throughout the area. All campgrounds are open, the air is good, and the water is cool.

(SALEM) - Steeple Rock Fires - A view from helicopter of the fires around Steeple Rock.  Credit: Chad Calderwood Thunderstorms on Saturday brought five new fires to the Middle Fork District. These additional fires have been added to the Buckhead Complex and are being managed by the Type 3 South Cascade Interagency Management Team.

Three of the new fires are located north of Steeple Rock, one is near the North Fork of Indian Creek, and one is near the headwaters of Packard Creek.

Forest Prepares for Red Flag Weather Warning During Current Wildland Fire Activity this Weekend

Forest users are being advised of the several recommendations.

(SALEM) - Forest service in Oregon The Willamette National Forest through the Middle Fork Ranger District has put into place a plan to notify and provide safe exit routes for the public.

This plan was created to address the Forest wide High fire danger and a Red Flag Warning issued by the National Weather Service beginning Friday Aug. 17 through Monday Aug. 20.
