Malaysia Airlines Reports Lost Contact with Aircraft with 239 Souls Aboard

Malaysia Airlines Vice President of Operations Fuad Sharuji told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that the company has “no idea” where Malaysia 370 may be.

(SALEM) - missing plane Malaysia Airlines announced over Facebook that Subang air traffic control ‘lost contact’ with flight MH370 at 2:40am local time on March 8 (GMT +8 hours), about two hours after takeoff from the Malaysian capital.

The Boeing 777-200ER was operating Kuala Lumpur (KUL) – Beijing (PEK), and was due to land a Beijing at 6:30am local time the same day.

Adult, Child Killed in Salem Crash, 3 More Suffer Life-Threatening Injuries (VIDEO)

Tragic head-on collision at Turner Rd SE and Airway Drive.

(SALEM) - Turner and Airway intersection sign UPDATED INFO: The Salem Police Department Traffic Control Unit is continuing its investigation into a crash that claimed the lives of one adult and one child on the evening of February 11 in southeast Salem.

The investigation revealed that a 1994 Ford Escort, driven by 28-year old Hannah Reitz of McMinnville, had been traveling northbound on Turner Rd when it crossed into the path of a southbound 1997 Ford F-150 pickup, driven by 32-year old Jason McMurphy of Turner, and was struck head on.

There were two adults and three children in the Ford Escort at the time of the crash. A passenger in the Ford Escort, 26-year old Kelly Moore of McMinnville, died at the scene as did her 9-year old daughter Jasmine Moore.

Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 223 south of Dallas in Polk County

The driver of the sport utility vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name will be released Friday morning.

(DALLAS) - Fatal crash near Dallas, Oregon 1-22-14 Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation of Thursday afternoon's fatal traffic crash involving a loaded log truck and sport utility vehicle on Highway 223 about three miles south of Dallas.

The highway reopened about 5:00 p.m. and the names of the occupants in the log truck are released in this update.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - motorcycle clubs About 5,000 people are estimated to have been at the memorial service in Corvallis today to show their respect for an Oregon man killed by a suicide bomber on Oct 6 in Afghanistan. Philomath High School graduate Pfc. Cody James Patterson's memorial service was held at Oregon State University’s LaSells Stewart Center.

In addition to the thousands of family, friends and community members attending, were several Oregon Motorcycle Clubs and non-club members, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with other patriotic citizens to honor Cody Patterson.

Oregon Mother of Two Shot and Killed by Estranged Husband

Motorcycle club disavows behavior of member.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Jessie Cavett Jessie Cavett grew up in Salem. She was a 27-year old mother of two, and worked at the Bella Institute School of Cosmetology in Portland as an instructor. She loved spending time with her mother, her daughters, and making the most of every day.

Yesterday, her estranged husband came into her home and shot her, point blank, in front of her two little girls. She died at the hospital late last night. Cavett left his 5-year old step daughter, Peyton, at the scene but took 2-year old Paige with him when he fled. Peyton was able to call one of her mother's friends for help, who then called 9-1-1.

Kingsley Field Suffers Loss of Guardmember due to Accidental Fall

Tech. Sgt. Ken Patsch is well remembered.

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) - 173d fighter wing Members of the 173rd Fighter Wing are saddened by the news of Tech. Sgt. Ken Patsch's death, Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 in an accidental fall in the Klamath River Canyon, near Keno, Ore.

Patsch was an engine mechanic in the 173rd Maintenance Group. Lieutenant Col. Jeffrey Smith, 173rd Maintenance Squadron commander said, "We are sad to say goodbye to a co-worker and friend. He served his nation faithfully for over 15 years."

Logging Helicopter Crash Claims Life of Pilot

Logging is a dangerous occupation, whether above or on the ground.

(DETROIT, OR.) - Helicopter crash A log-transporter helicopter crashed in Linn County near Blowout Road, two miles from Highway 22 east of Salem, claiming the life of the pilot Monday morning.

The helicopter had picked up a load when witnesses reported hearing a loud snapping sound which was followed by logs hitting the ground and it appeared the pilot had released the logs electronically, indicating the pilot knew of a problem prior to the crash.

Two Dead After Head-On Crash Near Stayton

Alcohol is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.

(STAYTON OR) - Fatal crash Hwy 22 Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into the cause of Tuesday evening's double fatal traffic crash involving two vehicles on Highway 22 near Stayton in Marion County.

Two others were seriously injured in the crash when the vehicles collided head-on in the eastbound lane.
