Christmas and Hanukkah’s Festival of Lights are times of joy and celebration, but this season is also a time of introspection and humility. We who have sound minds and bodies have reason to be most grateful. Not everyone has been so blessed.

Those Oregonians who suffer from mental illness carry burdens others cannot fathom. Sometimes mentally ill patients are anti-social and need patience and understanding.

Hanford Commercial Nuclear Reactor Cited for Safety Violations

It appears that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) failed to disclose safety violations and inspection report during a public comment period and hid the report in the holiday shuffle.

(HANFORD, Wash.) - Hanford Nuclear plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) announced yesterday that it issued safety violations for five events this spring and summer at the Northwest’s sole commercial nuclear reactor, located on the Hanford Nuclear eservation.

The incidents included loss of over four thousand gallons of reactor coolant and water twice in four months, and the insertion of reactor control rods when operators believed they were withdrawing the rods.

Five female prisoners at Israel`s Hasharon Launch Hunger Strike

Women were among the 550 detainees released in phase two of the prisoner exchange deal on Sunday, however many were left behind.

(GAZA) - Exterior of Israel's Hasharon jail Five female prisoners at Israel's Hasharon jail started a hunger strike on Wednesday in protest against not being included in the prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas.

A report by the Palestinian Authority ministry of prisoners affairs noted that detainees were deeply disappointed after finding out they were not included in phase two of the swap.

New center for Agent Orange victims in Quang Ngai

VAVA will coordinate to eventually build 55 such operations in most localities nationwide to help AO victims.

(DA NANG, Vietnam) - Agent Orange activists in Quang Ngai, Vietnam. A new rehabilitation center was inaugurated on Monday and put into operation to provide shelter, healthcare, and treatment for victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.

Located on an area of 900 square meters in Nghia Thang Commune of Tu Nghia District, the well-equipped facility is able to offer treatment and training for the victims, who stay as day boarders.

(LONDON) - Vietnam Veterans against Agent Orange I returned to London on 16th December and while in Ho Chi Minh City along with others that included an Member of Parliament, representatives of the Foreign Office and the BBC World Service, we visited Children at the Tu Du Hospital affected by Agent Orange.

Dow Chemical was one of the companies that manufactured Agent Orange and has been given the contract for the Olympic Stadium that we are campaigning on to get cancelled.

(BINH DINH, Vietnam) - Agent Orange being sprayed over Vietnam A ground-breaking ceremony was held at Phu Cat airbase yesterday morning for a 5,400 cubic metre landfill site which will be used to isolate dioxin.

Phu Cat airbase was used to launch herbicide spraying missions during the American War, making it one of three contaminated hotspots along with the airports at Bien Hoa and Da Nang.

Marine Commandant Defends Medal of Honor Recipient Dakota Meyer

Everything about Dakota Meyer's service was honorable; and then everything went to hell in a handbasket after he reported BAE's attempt to sell military hardware to Pakistan.

(SALEM) - Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer of Kentucky, and the Marine Corps' 35th Commandant, Gen. James F. Amos A McClatchy Newspaper reporter alleges in a series of articles, that the government beefed up the story of U.S. Marine Sergeant Dakota Meyer, who was awarded the Medal of Honor in September.

This is not sitting well with Marines, particularly the top Marine officer, the Commandant, Gen. James F. Amos.
