Oregon Couple Accused of Killing Newborn Daughter

The investigation in this case is ongoing.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Death Investigation Portland police have arrested a couple on Murder by Abuse and Manslaughter charges in connection with the April 12 death of their newborn child.

North precinct officers arrested 29-year-old Sarah Mangus and 34-year-old Jamie Mangus both of Portland, after being indicted earlier this week by a grand jury.

Arson Maybe to Blame for Union Gospel Mission Thrift Store Fire

It is anticipated that the main sales area of the building will reopen within the next few days.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Arson Investigation A three alarm fire that gutted part of the Union Gospel Mission Thrift Store early Wednesday morning may have been intentionally set.

Salem police along with the Salem fire department are still investigating the cause of the fire, which was discovered by a railroad train engineer who noticed flames showing on the west side of the building.

Registered Sex Offender Arrested After Towing Undercover Police Car

Michael Alan Selmer, from Falls City, is the subject of an ongoing investigation after OSP received information he acquired two tow trucks.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Michael Alan Selmer A 35-year old Polk County man under investigation by Oregon State Police related to an alleged illegal towing business was arrested Tuesday for failing to register as a sex offender and parole violation.

His tow trucks displayed the name "Whoops! Towing" and he allegedly posted tow impound signs at various businesses in the Salem, Jefferson and Independence areas, using a spotter to call for tows before removing vehicles.

Second Drive By Shooting Suspect Identified

The Silver Honda Accord that one of the suspects had been seen driving is no longer of interest in this case.

(DALLAS, Ore. ) - Scott Newton Mills City Shooting The Polk County Sheriff's office has identified the second involved person in a drive by shooting on June 8 in Falls City known initially as "Scotty".

"Scotty" has been identified as 31-year-old Scott Newton of the Mill City area. Scott Newton also goes by the nickname, "sidewinder".

(RIVERSIDE, Calif. ) - Cynthia Ann Watson A grandmother whose 2-year-old granddaughter drank methamphetamine laced tea has pleaded guilty to child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports 51-year-old Cynthia Ann Watson entered the pleas Tuesday in a Riverside County court. She was sentenced to 60 days in custody, including 43 days in a work-release program.

Two Suspects Sought After Drive By Shooting in Polk County

Nobody was injured during the exchange of gunfire.

(FALLS CITY, Ore. ) - Pollk County Drive By Shooting The Polk County Sheriff's office is continuing to investigate a drive by shooting in the small town of Falls City, west of Salem.

The Sheriff's office says on Tuesday, at 3:30 p.m. deputies were advised that two white male subjects had gone to the falls located between Parry Road and Mitchell Street and threatened another male with firearms.

Salem Man Kills Older Brother With Sword

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem-News.com The man Salem Police arrested July 3 for stabbing his brother to death has been formally charged with murder.

50-year-old Jon Louis Bush was in Marion County Courtroom on Monday to hear the charges against him. The Judge placed a no bail hold on Bush, and he remains incarcerated at the Marion County Jail.

On the third day employees grew suspicious and went along on the test drive.

4 Killed on Oregon Roads During Fourth of July Holiday Weekend

OSP troopers and fish & wildlife troopers arrested 25 people during the holiday period wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police DUI Preliminary information indicates four people died in three separate traffic crashes in Oregon during the 78-hour Fourth of July holiday period between 6:00 p.m., July 3, and 11:59 p.m., July 6.

OSP troopers reported 50 DUII arrests statewide during this year's holiday period. Last year, troopers reported 60 DUII arrests.
