Salem Man Kills Older Brother With Sword

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The man Salem Police arrested July 3 for stabbing his brother to death has been formally charged with murder.

50-year-old Jon Louis Bush of Salem was in Marion County Courtroom on Monday to hear the charges against him. The Judge placed a no bail hold on Bush, and he remains incarcerated at the Marion County Jail.

Salem Police responded to 4704 Niles Avenue northeast shortly before 4:00 p.m. on a report of a stabbing. They found 58-year-old Larry Bush with stab wounds and despite heroic attempt by police and medical personnel Bush died at the scene.

Officers arrested his brother, Jon Bush, at the scene. He later admitted to detectives that he intentionally killed his brother with a sword.

Another arraignment on an indictment by Grand Jury is scheduled for July 16.

Neighbor's in the area that spoke with Salem-News.com said that drug activity is very high in the area.

Police have not yet said whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
