Police Make Arrest in Middle School Bomb Scare

The student was placed in the custody of the Washington County Juvenile Department, who later released him to his parents.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Handcufffed person Police say an arrest was made Friday afternoon in the February 6th bomb threat at Banks Junior High School. The suspect is a 13-year old student at the school.

Sgt. David Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff's Office says that around 3:00 p.m. Friday, the 13-year old male juvenile was arrested at his home in Banks regarding the February 6th bomb threat that caused the evacuation of Banks Junior High School.

Officials Find IED at Oregon School

The Metro Explosive Disposal Unit responded to the school, took control of the device, and transported it to a location for disposal.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Explosive device recovered at La Salle Catholic College Preparatory Police say that around 8:45 a.m. today, a La Salle Catholic College Preparatory employee found what appeared to be an unexploded device near the landscape shed on the school campus.

Detective Jeffrey Green with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded and identified the device as an improvised explosive device or "IED" which is what soldiers and Marines are often killed with in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Shoppers at Salem`s Lancaster Mall Evacuated Over Suspicious Devices

Salem Police Bomb Squad Responds to Lancaster Mall‏ over three different suspicious packages.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon State Police bomb squad robot The Salem Police Department Bomb Squad responded to three separate suspicious packages at Lancaster Mall on Wednesday morning.

Salem Police Lt Dave Okada says all of the packages were rendered safe by the Bomb Squad with no explosives located.

Deputies Respond to Bomb Threat in Jefferson‏

(JEFFERSON, Ore.) - Police lights The Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a bomb threat Monday in Jefferson.

Lt. Sheila Lorance with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says the incident took place at the Sterling Bank on Main Street in Jefferson.

The call regarding a bomb threat came in just after 5:00 PM. After the December loss of two police officers in Oregon over a bomb in a bank have placed law enforcement officers on high alert.

Salem Police Bomb Squad Investigating Fake Explosive Device

The hoax led to the evacuation of three apartment buildings and several other nearby buildings, with 60-100 people temporarily displaced.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem's Police Bomb Squad was activated today over a report of a large explosive device that was found near a South Salem apartment complex. What appeared to be an explosive device, as it turns out, was a fake bomb created to look like convincingly real, according to Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada.

The call came through at 9:00 AM from the apartment complex on Liberty Road S, where the suspicious device was observed on a garbage can. Okada says the device, "was comprised of several tubes that resembled sticks of dynamite with an electronic detonator placed among the sticks and a timing device on top".

He says the initial responding officers immediately secured the area and contacted the Bomb Squad.

Suspect Arrested In Bomb Threat At Salem`s McKay High School

Police say the threat was not a viable one and no explosive devices were found.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 18-year old Mark Steven Gray Salem Police officers arrested an 18-year old McKay High School student today for leaving a note threatening to detonate a bomb in the school.

Lt. Dave Okada with Salem Police says Mark Steven Gray, a student at the school, was arrested for leaving a note in a bathroom on February 6th stating that a bomb was going to go off at McKay High School on February 8th.

Salem Pipe Bomb Suspect Back in Court Tuesday

None of the bombs exploded, but they could have caused serious injury or death if they had, Salem police said.

(SALEM) - 44-year-old Lonnie Troy Glinski The man who allegedly planted pipe bombs on four sport utility vehicles in the Salem-area that sent the community into panic back in August, is scheduled to appear in a Marion County Courtroom Tuesday morning.

44-year-old Lonnie Troy Glinski was arrested on Oct. 16th at his home in Sweet Home.

He is charged with seven counts of attempted aggravated murder and four counts of possession of a destructive device.

Police Bomb Squad Disrupts Suspicious Device in East Salem

After the recent discovery of four bombs in the span of a single day, Salem residents are in a serious mode and following police directions.

(SALEM) - Oregon State Police Bomb Squad robot A Salem man called police today after spotting a suspicious object in some brush on his property.

John Forgard, who lives at 3035 Hollywood Dr NE in Salem said he called police to say he believed it may be a homemade explosive device.

The police responded around 1:30 PM this afternoon, and soon the bomb squad was enroute.

Salem Bombs Were All Attached to Cars

Police reveal that the two bombs found on the ground actually fell off cars they had been attached to.

(SALEM) - Salem Police are releasing more information on last week’s pipe bomb incidents in Salem and Dallas. It now appears that all four bombs were attached to cars owned by south Salem residents.

Two of the pipe bombs were found on the ground; one in the parking lot at Roth’s IGA on Lancaster Drive NE, and one at the intersection of Woodland Drive and Jon Mart in south Salem.

One was discovered attached to a car in a Salem Hospital parking area, and the fourth bomb was found attached to a car at the TYCO Electronics factory in Dallas.

Pipe Bombs Found in The Salem Area

So far the origin of the four explosive devices recovered in Salem remains a mystery, and police are worried that there could be more.

(SALEM) - pipe bomb diagram Salem Police issued an updated release regarding the number of explosive devices that were found in Salem Thursday.

Three pipe bombs were found in Salem, one was recovered in Dallas. No one was injured in the incidents, and no Arrests have been made.
