Bikers Ride Across Oregon for Babies

Thanks to the support of generous bikers, this event raised over $54,000 in its first two years.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Harley riders in the Bikers for Babies event On Saturday, August 21st die-hard bikers and weekend warriors from across the state will ride together to raise urgently needed funds to help every baby be born healthy. The 3rd annual Bikers for Babies will start at Harley-Davidson shops in Bend, Salem and Eugene at 9:00 a.m.

Individual riders as well as motorcycle clubs will hit the road to help support March of Dimes research and programs to help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives.

Mating Peacock Drawing Gunfire in Eastern Oregon

Peacock Problems in Central Oregon are not what you call an everyday situation.

(BEND, Ore.) - Peacock mating in Oregon One really buff and sexually charged peacock near Bend, Oregon, has been causing a real fuss; the bird belongs to a local resident named Joy Graves.

She hasn't been able to nab the extremely striking bird, and some gun toting residents decided they want to shoot it.

State Trooper Catches Suspect After Nearly Mile Long Chase

OSP trooper arrests Madras man following chase, after he reportedly attempted to hide in a muddy canal near Madras.

(MADRAS, Ore.) - 29-year old Gilberto Rivera-Villarreal of Madras An Oregon State Police trooper arrested a Madras-area man Friday morning on multiple charges after he crashed into a guardrail and then fled on foot while being interviewed, Sergeant Paul Collinsworth with Oregon State Police in Bend said.

"The trooper chased the man on foot for about one mile before it ended and he was caught trying to hide in a muddy empty canal. Charges included DUII and Failing to Register as a Sex Offender."

Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Highway 20 near Bend

"The crash is still under investigation, but it appears speed may have been a contributing factor" -Oregon State Police Sergeant Eric Brown

(BEND, Ore.) - Fatal crash Police say a 61-year old man was killed early Friday morning after his motorcycle crashed on Highway 20E approximately 28 miles east of Bend, Oregon.

Oregon State Police Sergeant Eric Brown, says early this morning at approximately 12:30 a.m., a 2008 Ducati motorcycle operated by a 61-year old man was driving eastbound on Highway 20 near milepost 28.

Over 100 Atttend Immigration Reform Rally in Bend

Immigration advocates say they want to see a sufficient number of visas allocated to close unlawful migration channels and thereby strengthen border security.

(BEND, Ore.) - Billboard depicting Hispanic farmworkers Today over a hundred supporters of Immigration Reform joined CAUSA, Central Oregon Jobs with Justice and Recursos Para Derechos Humanos at a rally in Bend to call on Congressman Walden to support Comprehensive Immigration Reform legislation this year.

The rally took place during the Central Oregon town hall style TV show "Talk of the Town".

Motorcyclists Seriously injured in Crash on Highway 242 near Viewpoint

A driver was cited for Dangerous Left Turn.

(VENETA, Ore.) - Helicopter landing on Highway 242 Police say a Bend-area couple was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when the motorcycle they were riding on crashed into the side of a passenger vehicle that turned in front of them on Highway 242 about three miles west of the viewpoint.

On August 16, 2009 at approximately 4:00 p.m. a 1999 Subaru Legacy driven by 61-year William F. Foster of Veneta, was westbound on Highway 242 near milepost 76 when it attempted to turn left toward a highway turnout.

Bend Motorcycle Officer Hurt in Crash

The investigation is continuing.

(BEND, Ore.) - Crash investigation A Bend police motor officer was injured Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a pickup attempting to turn across congested traffic into a bank entrance in the city of Bend.

Eastbound traffic was reported as heavy as a driver attempted to turn left with a commercial truck approaching in the left eastbound lane, and struck the motorcycle in the right lane.

Oregon Wildfire Update

Since the beginning of the new year, 305 fires in Oregon have burned approximately 1194 acres.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon wildfire Fire officials say mop up is still taking place on the 534 acre lightning-caused Twelve Mile Fire near Ritter Hot Springs about 12 miles north of the town of Long Creek. Today, one crew and one engine are completing interior mop up on this fire, which was contained yesterday.

Beyond that, no new fires 10-acres or greater, have been reported to the Salem Coordination Center.

Bend Woman Dies in Crash Near Black Butte Ranch

The 79-year old driver was not wearing her seat belt, according to police.

(BEND, Ore.) - 2005 Buick involved in a fatal crash in Bend, Oregon 5-16--09 Police say a Bend-area woman died Saturday morning when the car she was driving struck a tree along Highway 20 near the entrance to Black Butte.

A 2005 Buick operated by 79-year old Genevieve Clare Watson of Bend, was westbound on Highway 20W at approximately 11:12 a.m., passing the entrance to Black Butte Ranch, when the vehicle failed to negotiate a slight right hand corner.
