Horizon Air Back at 90 Percent; Announces Modified Schedule

24 flights in and out of Portland International Airport are affected by cancellations today.

(SEATTLE) - Horizon aircraft To accommodate currently booked customers and those wishing to make future travel plans, Horizon Air has released a modified firm schedule that is expected to stay in effect Tuesday, September 18th, through Monday, September 24th.

The schedule will allow the airline to complete the inspections of the Bombardier Aerospace Q400 turboprops in its fleet, as per Transport Canada and Bombardier specifications.

Horizon Air Expects Weekend Cancellations Due to Q400 Inspections

Horizon currently operates the Q400 in 74-and 76-seat configurations.

Steve Fossett Search Enters 6th Day

Aerial search exceeds 150 flight-hours, covers more than half of 10,000-sq.-mi. area.

(MINDEN, Nev. ) - Gipplsand Airvan photo Day six of the search effort for famed aviator Steve Fossett began today, with air and ground crews from more than a dozen agencies continuing to cover the 17,000-square-mile search area in western Nevada and eastern California.

Authorities believe Fossett could have gone anywhere in that area during his flight, which began Sept. 3rd from the Flying M Ranch near Yerington, Nev.

About 26 aircraft, 230 ground searchers and one sonar-equipped boat are participating in the search.

CAP: Still No Sign of Missing Aviator Steve Fossett

(MINDEN, Nev.) - Citabria plane photo A lone pilot, identified as famed aviator Steve Fossett, last seen Sept. 3rd, remains missing despite early search efforts by the the U.S. Civil Air Patrol, in addition to private resources from the Flying M Ranch near Yerington, Nev.; Naval Air Station Fallon; the Nevada National Guard; and the California Highway Patrol.

According to reports from the Flying M's private airstrip, where the pilot took off Labor Day morning, he was flying a Citabria Super Decathlon single-engine aircraft with the tail number N240R.

4 Killed After News Helicopters Collide in Phoenix

The NTSB and FAA are investigating the crash.

(PHOENIX, Ariz. ) - fatal crash image Two TV news helicopters following a police car pursuit collided over central-north Phoenix on Friday killing four people.

Killed in the crash were KTVK-TV pilot Scott Bowerbank and photographer Jim Cox along with KNXV-TV pilot Craig Smith and photojournalist Rick Krolak.

The crash occurred around 12:45 PM in Steele Indian School Park near Third Street and Indian School Road.

After Six Days, Still No Sign of Missing Oregon Pilot

The CAP, which has 8 planes and 35 personnel involved in the search Friday, expects to ramp up their search efforts over the weekend.

"The radar return that we received yesterday covers a significant portion of the Oregon Coastal area," said Lt Col. Pete Andersen, CAP Incident Commander for the CAP's search efforts.

Missing Oregon Pilot Identified

Search operations will continue through the weekend from the Aurora Airport with planes from Oregon and Washington Wings of the Civil Air Patrol.

(AURORA, Ore. ) - Courtland Mumford photo At the request of the family, the Oregon Civil Air Patrol is releasing the name and photograph of the missing pilot that has been the object of an intensive search operation out of the Aurora Airport since Sunday, July 9th.

65-year-old Courtland "Court" Mumford of Portland, a retired airline pilot with over 27,000 flight hours, was reported missing by family when he failed to return from a day of flying his newly purchased Piper Cub aircraft at the Aurora State Airport.

Oregon Authorities Expand Search for Missing Aircraft‎

The search efforts will continue to focus South of Aurora and will expand during the day to cover any leads that may come in.

(AURORA, Ore. ) - oregon cap photo The Oregon Wing of the U.S. Civil Air Patrol is continuing it's search this morning for a missing Piper Cub single engine aircraft with one person on board that was reported missing by family on Saturday.

The pilot of the Piper Cub, a 68-year-old Portland resident who is a retired airline pilot, was conducting practice flights in his newly acquired aircraft Saturday when he failed to return as planned to the Aurora Airport.

Oregon Authorities Searching for Missing Plane

The CAP will be initiating the search from their Northern Command Center located at the North end of the field next to Willamette Aviation and Columbia Helicopters.

Memorial Service for Oregon F-15 Pilot Greg Young

(ST. HELENS, Ore.) - Major Greg Young Family and friends will gather to remember and pay respect to Maj. Greg Young July 5th at 11:00 AM at St. Helens High School, 2375 Gable Rd, St. Helens OR 97051.

Greg Young died during a training exercise over the Pacific Ocean when his jet fighter crashed Tuesday, June 26th, 2007.
