Father, Son Killed British Columbia Plane Crash

The plane was en route from Salem to Springbank, Alberta.

(INVERMERE, British Columbia) - Piper Malibu A father and son, along with a pilot, were killed Friday night, after the small plane they were flying in crashed in Canada’s western province of British Columbia.

A family spokesperson says 37-year-old David Wood, his father, William Wood, both from Calgary, and the pilot, 69-year-old Ronald Bullen, were returning to Springbank, Alberta from Salem, Oregon after David finished his final exam from the Board of Architecture at the University of Oregon.

Small Plane From Salem, Oregon Crashes in British Columbia

The plane was en route from Salem to Springbank, Alberta.

(INVERMERE, British Columbia) - Piper Malibu Three people were killed in a small plane crash in Canada's western province of British Columbia authorities said Saturday.

The single engine Piper Malibu went down Friday night after the pilot reported he had lost engine power. The identities of those on board have not yet been released. The plane was en route from Salem, Oregon, to Springbank, Alberta.

60th Anniversary of Spruce Goose Flight Celebration

The day-long celebration on November 2nd is presented by Pratt & Whitney, it honors the plane's one and only flight.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - The only flight of the Spruce Goose The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum is honoring the one and only flight of the world-famous “Spruce Goose” at the flying boat’s home in Oregon. An entire day will be dedicated to the celebration in honor of the November 2nd 1947 flight.

Activities will include speaker presentations, special exhibitions and a 1947 themed hangar dance.

Oregon Guard on Standby to Assist California Firefighters

They will assist 1,500 California Guard soldiers already deployed.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon Guard aviation crew during a recent training exercise Oregon National Guard aviation personnel are going on stand-by status to aid the 6,000 firefighters battling a Santa Ana wind-driven wildfire that has been burning out of control for three days.

Senate President Peter Courtney says he asked the Governor to make Oregon National Guard resources available to assist emergency management and recovery efforts in Southern California.

Oregon War Pilot Inducted Into Hall of Honor

(SALEM, Ore.) - P-47 Thunderbolt One of Oregon’s aviation “Finest,” and a past Director of the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs, will be inducted into Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum’s Hall of Honor at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 21 at the museum, 500 NE Captain Michael King Smith Way, in McMinnville.

Brigadier General Staryl C. Austin, Jr., a native Oregonian, completed 58 combat missions while flying the rugged P-47 Thunderbolt. His unit’s mission was air to ground support while destroying key German ground targets to pave the way for the Allies’ advance across France, Belgium and Germany.

No Sign Yet of Plane Missing in Washington

(SEATTLE, Wash.) - Cessna 207 Caravan A small airplane has reportedly crashed on a flight between Idaho to Shelton, Washington. 10 people were aboard the Cessna 208 Caravan that left the ground in Boise at 7:00 PM.

Authorities became alarmed when the plane failed to return to Shelton as a flight plan indicated. Nisha Marvel, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Transportation, told Salem-News.com that a number of resources have been deployed to help located the missing aircraft.

Oregon Pilots Assist in Missing Person Search‏

The missing hunter is reported to have medical problems and is believed to be driving a red 1994 Chevy pickup truck with a red camper shell.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Crook County in Central Oregon Oregon' Wing of the U.S. Civil Air Patrol is assisting the Crook County, Oregon Sheriff in the search for a missing 47-year old male hunter who has been missing in the Ochoco National Forest since Thursday.

They have stopped operations at this point, "but will bring in four aircraft on Sunday to assist the Crook County Sheriff in the search, Lt Col. Thomas Traver, the Oregon CAP public affairs officer said. "This will bring to a total of 20 CAP personnel involved in this search effort."

Democrats Block Sale of F-14 Parts to Iran

Wyden’s “Stop Arming Iran Act” is included in Defense Authorization Bill.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Iranian F-14 Working to stop the sale of surplus aircraft parts to Iran, the U.S. Senate today passed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008, which included a provision based on the “Stop Arming Iran Act” introduced by Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR).

The provision will prohibit the Pentagon from selling surplus parts and equipment for F-14 fighter aircraft. Iran is the only country—other than the United States—that flies F-14s.

Oregon Guard F-15 Accident Report Released

Friends and associates of Major Greg Young say he is sorely missed.

(LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va.) - F-15s in flight A pilot's spatial disorientation during an air combat training mission caused an F-15A to crash approximately 42 nautical miles west of Arch Cape, Oregon, in the Pacific Ocean on June 26th, 2007, Air Force officials announced today.

The pilot of the aircraft, Major Greg Young, died immediately on impact and was the only crewmember aboard the single-seat F-15A. The mishap occurred during a dissimilar air combat training mission with F/A-18s from Naval Air Station Fort Worth, Texas.
