Candlelight Vigil Seeks Justice for Death of Aniya Zamora

The community gathered to support the investigation of this tragedy.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Aniya Zamora About seventy-five people came together on the Marion County courthouse steps Tuesday night, seeking justice for a little girl whose life was cut short. The 3 ½ year old girl was found dead in her home on April 19, 2013.

The candlelight vigil for Aniya Zamora gave the group the chance to pray, and share their thoughts, giving comfort to the grieving and showing support for the quest to learn the truth.

Remembering ANTHONY K. JIMENEZ
1993 – 2013

(SALEM) - Anthony Jimenez A celebration of life will take place this afternoon for 20-year old Anthony K. Jimenez, of McMinnville, who died June 30, 2013, as the result of a drowning accident at the Donkey Ponds, a favorite local swimming spot.

Anthony was born May 22,1993, in Portland, Oregon. He is survived by his father, Abel “Kino” Jimenez; his mother, Danyelle Lopez; his brothers, Steven, Cruscito and Isaiah; two sisters, Sabrina and Sienna; and his young daughter, Brooklyn. He also leaves behind a girlfriend, Tavia Surratt, and a large extended family in the Dayton/McMinnville area.

Wednesday morning at approximately 9:40 AM, the body of 20-year old Anthony Jimenez was recovered from the Willamette River. It was a somber discovery, though expected.

Oregon House Passes Medical Marijuana Dispensary Bill, On to Senate!

A small step for Oregon; a big step for the pursuit of Life, Liberty & Happiness.

(SALEM) - medical marijuana Medical Marijuana dispensaries in Oregon are well on their way to legalization. Lawmakers in the Oregon House debated with gusto, then approved a bill on Monday that would license and regulate retail outlets that provide the medicine to patients with a state-sanctioned permit. The bill passed 31-27.

The bill was supported by many across the state, including Oregon’s “top cop”, Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum who recently endorsed the measure.

(SALEM) - Adam's Rib Smokehouse A record attendance of over 2,000 people came to the Hot Rod show on State Street which kicked off early Saturday morning and kept people “oohing and ahhhing” through the afternoon.

The kid-friendly event included a monster truck, a bounce house, face painting and games. It was all in commemoration of Adam's Rib Smokehouse's 10th Anniversary, a party that began on Friday.

Oregon Governor Signs SB 281 Allowing PTSD Sufferers to use Cannabis

As of Jan 1, 2014, veterans and others with PTSD, will be able to get their OMMP cards.

(Salem) - medical marijuana Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber showed his support of Veterans and others suffering from PTSD when he signed Senate Bill 281 on Thursday, allowing the legal medical use of Cannabis (marijuana).

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) was added to the list of "debilitating medical conditions" as defined by Oregon statute with the Governor's signature.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - McMinnville UFO Festival Thousands came to the Willamette Valley to attend the biggest UFO gathering in the United States. The attraction began because some of the most credible UFO photos in the world were taken outside the farming town of McMinnville, Oregon in 1950.

Bonnie King`s career is unique, she is one of the few media professionals who has extensive time in four relevant areas; radio, television, newspaper and Internet. She has been with Salem-News.com since August 2004.

Her television career began in 1988, at Lincoln City, Oregon`s cable TV station, TV 10, in dual roles as News Anchor and Sales/Promotion Director. This was a natural evolution of her journalistic aspirations, since she was first "bit by the bug" while serving as Editor in Chief of her high school yearbook for two years. She graduated from Bassist College in Portland, Oregon in 1986.

Bonnie has interviewed legends like Aaron Spelling, Hugh Miles and Peter Frampton; Nadia Komenich, the feisty Judge Mills Lane, and the stars from CHARMED, FELICITY, ROSWELL, 7TH HEAVEN and BUFFY the VAMPIRE SLAYER. She has interviewed Oregon`s governors and congressmen, and she was part of the award-winning NBC news crew that first spoke to Evander Holyfield the night of the notorious Tyson ear-biting incident.

Her first full length documentary, `Fallen Fortress at Cape Lookout` aired on Oregon Public Broadcasting in 1993, for which she was the Producer. She is presently working on two Oregon based historical documentaries, and is an integral force in civil and human rights causes.

Bonnie has served in a number of positions in the broadcast industry; TV Production Manager at KVWB (Las Vegas WB) and Producer/Director for the TV series "Hot Wheels in Las Vegas" (2 seasons); TV Promotion Director for KYMA (NBC), and KFBT (Ind.); Asst. Marketing Director (SUPERSHOPPER MAGAZINE); Director/Co-Host (Coast Entertainment Show); Promotion Director (KBCH/KCRF Radio); and, Newspapers In Education/Circulation Sales Manager (STATESMAN JOURNAL NEWSPAPER).

Bonnie has a depth of understanding that reaches further than just behind the scenes, and that thoroughness of her nature is demonstrated in the perseverance to correctly present each story with the wit and wisdom necessary to compel and captivate viewers.
