Common Sense (In Memorial) RIP

What has become of our natural, most protective instinct?

(CLEVELAND) - Death of common sense In third world countries you pay bribes all day, in America you do the same thing, just more indirectly. So much of life today makes so little sense.

We are raised to be honest and then learn as adults that cheating, lying, deceiving, swindling; it all takes place on a daily basis. People live corrupt lives to keep good jobs, but they fail to understand that somebody is paying a price.

Pakistani Christians

Christian community in particular has been targeted and internationally ostracized in the past.

(ISLAMABAD) - Pakistani Muslims torch Christian homes The peace intervention ratio in Pakistan is always disproportional in terms of supply and demand. Pakistani society is gradually dipping into disharmony and going awry as demand increases and supply is less than its required level.

Pakistan is unable to achieve its desired status in the comity of nations despite having good natural and human resources; the reason is that there is injustice at the heart of all its systems and levels.

Imagine If We Were Number One

No, not number one in military spending (which we are). Not number one in incarceration rates (which we are as well). What if, instead of these things, the U.S. became hyper-focused on becoming the most peaceful nation on earth?

(PORTLAND, OR) - Peace Politics History The recently released 2013 Global Peace Index (GPI) placed the U.S.100th out of 162 countries. That’s not so spectacular.

The GPI, which is endorsed by a number of Nobel Peace laureates, eminent individuals, and renowned academics, considers factors related to both negative peace, that is, the absence of violent conflict, and positive peace, or characteristics of just and humane societies, like ample housing, access to education, lack of poverty, healthcare, and gender equality.

From Nightmares to Revelations

To proclaim a nation civilized, advanced, democratic, and assured means it must possess inner trust, so that what the nation proclaims to be, truly exists and can stand examination by others.

(LAVERNE, CA) - Salem-News.com Dreams have in centuries past been understood to reveal truths about the conscious world that provide deeper insight into our day to day lives than what we discern when awake.

Similar insight can come through the arts whether in the form of novels, short stories, films or plays.

The Psychology of Denial

Despite conclusive evidence, some people deny the ongoing climate catastrophe. Why do they do this?

(TASMANIA, Aust.) - Denial If you terrorise a child out of taking action to change its circumstances for the better (for example, to get out of a situation in which it is suffering the violence of a parent), then that same terror that stopped it changing its behaviour will also cause the child to now unconsciously delude itself that there is nothing wrong.

Why?

Medea Benjamin: A Real Hero for America and for Peace

Never go out quietly, raise a storm, bring the roof down, interrupt when they least expect it.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) - Medea Benjamin and Barack Obama Few people could get away with what she did, but Medea Benjamin got her point across to Barack Obama this week and it won't soon be forgotten. She questioned the top U.S. official for several minutes while security personnel drug her from the room.

The most explosive aspect of this story to me, is that Medea is Jewish. A Jewish American woman rallying for Muslims being killed by American drones, that is something to notice.

Obama: Clean Up the Dirty Wars!

Stop the lethal drone strikes. The drone strikes have killed countless civilians, are a recruiting tool for extremists and spread anti-American sentiment.

(WASHINGTON DC) - Dirty Wars In light of Jeremy Scahill's shocking documentary film Dirty Wars: The World is a Battlefield that exposes the hidden truths behind America's expanding covert wars, CODEPINK has launched the campaign "Clean Up the Dirty Wars".

The covert drone strikes and night raids approved by President Obama's administration--masked by the language of precision--are anything but clean.
