Int`l Women`s Day Proves Strength and Tenacity Year after Year

Women’s day is about actions against injustice, in deeds, not simply words.

(OCCUPIED PALESTINE) - On this International Women's Day, I am in Amman attending the Lancet Palestinian Health Alliance Conference where most presentations are by brilliant women (thank you Rita Giacaman for excellent coordination/organizing).

In this conference, public health issues are discussed in the regional context and in the context of Israeli colonial occupation. I was inspired mostly by people here: good dedicated experts who present the data regardless of how they get attacked by the powerful elite who profit from war, conflict and inequality.

The videos totally misrepresent what Planned Parenthood does. In fact, the organization follows federal law, allowing women to donate fetal tissue for research, and charging small amounts to cover costs.

Hindus Urge Mormons to Reconsider Ordination of Women

(RENO, Nev.) - Hindus have urged The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) and its President Thomas S. Monson to reconsider favorably the ordination of women.

Distinguished religious statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it would be a “step in the positive direction” as women could disseminate God’s message as skillfully as men and deserved equal and full participation and access in religion.

Murderer Josh Cavett has his Day in Court

Whether it be a plea for 25 years or "True Life", Cavett is going up the river.

(PORTLAND, OR) - Almost exactly 6 months after he committed murder, Josh Cavett went before Multnomah County Judge LaBarre and the District Attorney today to formally present his prospective plea deal.

On October 12th, 2013, Josh Cavett shot his 27-year old wife at point blank in front of her two little girls, leaving the 5-year old to call for help. He snatched their 2-year old from the scene and put her at extreme risk, setting off an Amber Alert, until he was arrested.

Tragically, Jessie Cavett died a few hours later. The man she was divorcing, and had gotten a Restraining Order against to protect her and the children, has been in custody since late that same October night.

Pussy Riot Members To Be Freed by Putin

The rumor has been confirmed, they will be freed under the amnesty bill by the Kremlin to mark the Russian constitution’s 20th anniversary.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Two members of Pussy Riot, the punk protest group in Russia, have been imprisoned since March 3, 2012. There were 11 women in the group originally, all between 20 and 33 years old.

They broke the law by staging performances in unusual public locations, "provocative" and unauthorized performances, to get the attention of the public and the world. They chose several themes that drew the ire of government and Church officials.

Clackamas County Corrections Offers FREE Safety-Defense Classes for Women

The classes are November 3; Registration closes October 28.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Clackamas County Community Corrections and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office will offer two free public-safety education classes for women ages 14 and older on Sunday, November 3, 2013:

1. The first class, "Personal Protection Strategies for Women," is a classroom presentation from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and will discuss:

• Personal self-defense techniques
