More Rain and Snow Today in the Northwest (VIDEO)

Another potent storm is on its way for Wednesday.

(SALEM, Ore.) - AccuWeather.com weather map Weather forecasters report that it will be another day of rain and snow in the Northwest as the latest storm moves in from the Pacific. Over the next several days, the storm track in the west will shift north toward British Columbia.

Rain today will fall along the coast of Washington, Oregon, and northern California before reaching central California by Wednesday. Snow will fall in the Cascades and Intermountain West and will spread into the western Rockies by tonight.

Polk Co. Schools • Dallas Sch. Dist. - 2 hrs late, no AM kind, buses on snow rts. • Falls City Sch. Dist. - 2 hrs late, no AM kind/preschool. • Perrydale Sch. Dist. - 2 hrs late, no AM kind. • Chemeketa Community College - This applies only to the DALLAS Center of Chemeketa Community College. Two hour delay due to hazardous driving conditions.

Early Morning Crash on Icy Road Severely Injures Teen Girl

Police say this tragic event should be a reminder to motorists to drive with due care, especially during the cold winter months.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Crash investigation A fourteen year old girl sustained life threatening injuries in an early morning vehicle accident on Portland Road NE on the Interstate 5 overpass, police day.

When the crash happened, 14-year old Alma Garcia-Martinez was riding in the rear seat of a 2003 Ford Explorer being driven northbound at about 6:30 AM on Portland Road by her mother, Alma Rosa Olivares-Martinez, according to Lt. Dave Okada with Salem Police.

Hundreds of Trees Cleared from Oregon Highway 126

The highway reopens after many hours of clearing work.

(SPRINGFIELD, Ore.) - Oregon Department of Transportation sign Oregon Department of Transportation maintenance crews will reopen Highway 126W at 5:00 PM today after clearing slide debris and hundreds of fallen trees from the roadway.

ODOT closed the highway between Eugene and Florence at 1:00 AM on Sunday following a landslide at milepoint 25, about 10.5 miles east of Mapleton.

New Pacific Storms Bring More Rain and Snow to the Northwest (VIDEO)

At the height of the weekend storms, more than two million people from Eureka to Los Angeles were without power.

(SALEM, Ore.) - AccuWeather.com weather map Forecasters report a new Pacific storm will bring more rain and snow to the Northwest today; however, the snow and rain totals will be nowhere near the amounts produced by the deadly storms that pounded the West over the weekend.

Moderate to heavy snow will fall today in the Cascades and the northern Sierra Nevada. By Tuesday night, an additional one to two feet of snow could be added to the incredible snowfall amounts produced by the twin monster storms that slammed into the West Coast over the past several days.

Power Restored to Most Areas After Storm Outage

Estimated restoration time for a majority of remaining customers is midnight Sunday.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Pacific Power outage restoration efforts from the weekend storms are substantially complete and the company incident command center expects to deactivate at 11:30 PM, after 62.5 hours.

A limited number of scattered and individual outages remain and crews will continue to work through the night and until all customers have power in Southern Oregon, Northern California and Southeastern Washington.

Ice and Snow Make Oregon Roads Treacherous

Oregon's Highway Department urges motorists to drive with caution.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Icy road The National Weather Service has issued weather alerts for the Cascade foothills, from southern Washington through central Oregon.

On Monday, snow is expected above 1000-2000 feet, with snow levels rising on Tuesday and lowering on Wednesday. Especially in the foothills of the Cascades, this means that precipitation may melt and refreeze, creating icy driving conditions.

Two Oregon Highways Closed by Mudslides, Fallen Trees

Heavy snowfall and saturated soil are combining to bring down trees and power lines on the highway between Noti and Mapleton.

(SPRINGFIELD, Ore. ) - road closed sign Dozens of fallen trees and continued heavy snowfall have forced the total closure of Highway 126W and Highway 36 between the Willamette Valley and the Central Oregon Coast.

A mudslide with large trees and rocks forced the closure of Highway 126W at milepoint 25 about 10 miles east of Mapleton at 1:00 AM Sunday morning. The slide is not expected to be cleared until late Sunday night at the earliest.
