Northern Oregon Cascades Winter Storm Warning

Snow will be heavy for most of the Cascades, northern portions of the Sierras Nevadas, the Blue Mountains, the Bitterroots and the Northern Rockies.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - As colder air moves in behind the cold front, snow levels will fall during the day on Wednesday allowing for increasing coverage of snow from the Klamath and Cascades of northern California into the Washington/Oregon Cascades, eastward into the northern Rockies.

One to two feet of snow appears likely in the mountains through the day on Thursday.

Huge Surf on Oregon Central Coast Proves Fatal

The High Surf Advisory is in effect until 3:00 p.m. Friday.

(LINCOLN COUNTY, Ore.) - Today at about 11:20 a.m. the Oregon State Police responded to Depoe Bay for a report of a male that had been swept off the rocks near the sea wall in Depoe Bay.

Witnesses reported the male went over the sea wall to look at the ocean and was then swept off the rocks.

Winter Weather Advisory for Cascade Passes

Advisory extended until November 16 at 10:00AM PST

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect above 4000 feet from 6:00 am Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday.

Snow is expected in the Northern Oregon Cascades above 4000 feet, so plan on difficult conditions if travelling across the Cascade passes or above. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are expected.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - An unusually strong frontal system for mid-June will move through northwest Oregon and southwest Washington on Thursday, producing strong winds across the area.

High winds along the coast are expected to gust between 40 and 50 mph, with the strongest gusts along the beaches and headlands. Over the higher terrain of the coastal mountains and the Cascades, winds could gust up to around 45 mph. This system will bring south gales from the south coast northward, and hazardous seas bringing small craft advisory level seas over most of the area. The hazardous conditions will persist into Friday morning.

A late winter storm will bring more rain and maybe even some snow.

(SALEM, Ore.) - While the threat of snow is eminent, an active Flood Watch continues for two rivers, the Pudding River at Aurora and the Tualatin River at Farmington.

A cool and unstable air mass will linger over the region for the next several days. Low elevation temperatures will hover in the
lower to middle 30s each night. Most accumulating snow will remain around 1,000 feet or higher. However, some showers may
bring visible snow down to sea level for most of the next several days.
