Humane Society and Oregon Wild Join Coalition to Stop Gillnetting

Chief petitioners are David Schamp, Fred Girod and Rod Monroe.

(PORTLAND, OR) - Salmon trapped in gillnet Two nonprofit groups today announced their support for a proposed ballot measure to stop commercial gillnet fishing on the lower Columbia.

The Humane Society of the United States and Oregon Wild endorsed the measure sponsored by the Stop Gillnetting Now coalition, which is headed for the November ballot.

ALEC is a right-wing policy group that has worked to suppress the Black vote and attack workers and the environment.

(RENO, NV.) - Lord Sri Venkateswara and Goddess Padmavathi Hindu gods will reportedly be getting married in the coming weeks in grand ceremonies in Arizona, Wisconsin, Oregon and Washington states of USA.

(SILVERDALE, WA) - Trident protestors with banner on roadway On May 12, 2012 activists blocked entry to the main gate at the Navy’s West coast Trident nuclear submarine base in an act of civil resistance to nuclear weapons.

Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action's peaceful vigil protested the U.S. government’s continued deployment and upgrading of the Trident nuclear weapons system.

(SEATTLE) - Trident protest in Bangor Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action will hold its annual Mother’s Day Weekend observance on Saturday, May 12th.

This year’s theme, “Moms Against Bombs”, honors the origin of Mother’s Day by Julia Ward Howe. In 1870, after the Civil War, Howe called for mothers everywhere to unite against the continuing use of violence and war to solve differences.

Celebrating our 10th Annual Minidoka Pilgrimage and recognizing the 70th Anniversary signing of Executive Order 9066

(SEATTLE) - Sept '95 photo of ruins of Camp Minidoka in Idaho Seventy years ago, almost 13,000 people of Japanese-ancestry, many of whom were American citizens, were removed from their homes and sent to a desolate “incarceration camp" near Twin Falls, Idaho.

This summer, the 10th pilgrimage will take place with former internees, their families, and friends - from Seattle, Portland and across the nation - to the former Minidoka Camp in Idaho.
