Salem Man Killed in Ore. Highway 18 Crash

OSP troopers from the Newport Area Command office are continuing the investigation.

(OTIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police Death Investigation A Salem man has been identified as the person killed in a June 23 crash on Highway 18.

The Polk County Medical Examiner confirmed positive identification of 22-year-old Jason E. Machado, who was killed when the 1997 Ford Escort he was driving crossed the centerline and collided with a Mercedes SUV.

According to preliminary reports, speeding, following too closely and abrupt lane changes were factors in the majority of fatal crashes this year.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon motorcycle crash This spring’s rash of motorcycle crashes serve as a poignant reminder that safety should be a top priority for both motorcyclists and drivers.

The Oregon Department of Transportation has received preliminary reports of 19 motorcycle fatalities this year (Jan. 1 to June 19, 2014); that’s a 100 percent increase from the same time period last year.

Expect Long Delays Tonight on I-5 South of Eugene

Rolling slowdowns will be used in both directions.

(COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. ) - Salem News Traffic Report Late night Interstate 5 motorists should expect long delays between Cottage Grove and Sutherlin on Tuesday, as an oversized load carrying a massive dam gate is transported through the area.

Between 10:45 p.m. and midnight, northbound traffic may be delayed up to 45 minutes while southbound traffic will be delayed approximately 30 minutes.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - portland road work ODOT crews will repair ruts in the pavement Interstate 5 in Southwest Portland at night starting Sunday through Wednesday, June 25 from 9:00 p.m. each night to 5:00 a.m. the following morning.

This work requires closing the right and center lanes of I-5.

BE AWARE! of Oregon Coast Road Construction Projects

The painting of the second bridge is expected to take two months to complete.

(PACIFIC CITY, Ore. ) - Oregon Road Report The bridge painting contractor is completing work on the first of three bridges on Ore. Hwy. 130 -- Little Nestucca River Highway -- between Ore. Hwy. 22 and U.S. 101.

On Friday, June 27, the first bridge at milepost 5.11 will re-open and the contractor will begin work on the second bridge at milepost 5.97.

An Oregon Department of Transportation project is currently underway that will add centerline rumble strips to sections of U.S. 26 and U.S. 30.

Salem Man Falls Asleep; Causes Head-On Crash

Police are still investigating the crash.

(WOODBURN, Ore. ) - Woodburn Crash Oregon State Police is continuing the investigation into Thursday evening's two vehicle head-on crash that occurred on Highway 211 about a mile east of Woodburn.

Both vehicles to rest on an embankment along the shoulder and some of the occupants were entrapped. Firefighters from Woodburn Fire District, Molalla Rural Fire Protection District, and Marion County Fire District 1 responded to the scene for extrication.

Salem Woman Arrested on Felony Warrant; Other Charges

Subsequent investigation identified the driver as 24-year-old Tiffany Marie Westmoreland, from Salem.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - Tiffany Marie Westmoreland Oregon State Police, with the assistance of McMinnville Police Department, arrested a wanted Salem woman following a driving-related incident Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 3:21 p.m., OSP and Yamhill County 9-1-1 received driving complaints of an erratically driven Dodge pickup eastbound on Highway 18 near milepost 40 west of McMinnville.

Her 79-year old male passenger was visibly intoxicated and was not arrested.
