(LAS CRUCES, N.M.) - Ciudad Juarez Police Chief Julian Leyzaola In a February press conference, non-governmental human rights organizations demanded that Ciudad Juarez Police Chief Julian Leyzaola straighten out the behavior of officers or step down.

Representing more than a dozen organizations, the activists announced they had documented 23 cases of alleged torture committed by local police during the month of January alone.

US-Egypt tensions have risen considerably following the decision to ban 43 pro-democracy staffers from travel, and charge them in a Cairo court for violating laws regulating the operation of NGOs.

Congress and States Prepare for another Circumcision Battle
