Oregon Governor Gets an Airborne View of Destructive Central Oregon Fires

Governor of Oregon Ted Kulongoski says the Black Crater Fire is the worst in Oregon, but it is only one of several burning trees and firefighting resources.

(SISTERS) - Helicopter gathering water near Black Crater Fire Fires in Central Oregon have agencies scrambling. One blaze called the Black Crater Fire near Sisters, consumed more than 4,700 acres between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Army National Guard to Provide Aerial Flight for Governor to see Black Crater Fire

Tim King travels with Oregon's Governor to view the fire outside of Sisters

(SALEM) - Blackhawk helicopter At 9:00 AM today, the 1042nd Medical Company of the Army National Guard will take Governor Kulongoski and Major General Raymond F. Rees, the Adjutant General of the Oregon National Guard on aerial tour of the Black Crater Fire, southwest of Sisters, Ore. They are scheduled for return at approximately 1:00 PM.

Our own Tim King will be on board the flight and will provide pool video upon return to the Army Aviation Flight Facility. He has professional quality equipment and will be able to download the video from his camera to media interested in the coverage of the fire video.

Governor Kulongoski will entertain media interviews upon his return to Salem, Ore.
