Police say two Milwaukie-area residents were lucky Wednesday night after losing control of the sport utility vehicle on an icy stretch of Highway 18 west of Sheridan. Their vehicle struck a sign post that came through the windshield and struck the passenger.

Investigators say a patch of ice led to a fatal crash on Highway 18 Friday evening about three miles east of Sheridan. The 6:40 PM crash involved two vehicles and claimed the life of a 21-year old St. Paul woman.
