One Dead, 23 Rescued after Footbridge Collapses

Rescuers worked for several hours to assist the stranded people across the river.

(MOUNT HOOD NATIONAL FOREST ) - Sandy River at Ramona Falls A thunderstorm with heavy rain led to a flash flood of the Sandy River at Ramona Falls Tuesday afternoon washed out a footbridge that claimed the life of one man, and left 23 others to be rescued.

When rescuers arrived at Ramona Falls, they found several people on the other side of the river and unable to cross due to the high water. There was no sign of the man who was on the bridge when it collapsed.

Man Drowns at Oregon State Park Sunday Afternoon

(TROUTDALE, Ore. ) - Dabney State Park Police say they have recovered the body of a man who drowned in the Sandy River Sunday afternoon at Dabney State Park.

Mutlnomah County Sheriff’s Office says the victim is man in his 40's who they think was swimming when he drowned.

Body of Kyle Peterson, Missing Since February, Pulled from Sandy River

(SANDY, Ore. ) - kyle peterson On Friday, at approximately 4:20 p.m. Multnomah County Sheriff's Office River Patrol deputies responded to the Sandy River after a day hiker reported seeing what he thought was a body floating in the river by a log near the mouth of the river.

The body was identified as 29-year-old Kyle Peterson of Gresham, who was reported missing after walking into a heavily wooded area on February 24, after a car accident in Troutdale.
