(ROSEBURG, Ore.) - Child Protective Services is supposed to help our nations’ children, to protect them from harmful situations. How can an agency that began with such good intentions turn into yet another device to fulfill the monetary greed of its hired extortionists?

Unfortunate as it is, Child Welfare is a system that our nation really does need. In my opinion it is in dire need of great repair. I know, because I am currently involved in one of their charades that they like to call an investigation.

(SPRINGFIELD, Ore.) - A Springfield-area Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division trooper known for having "an outstanding ability to place himself in the right place at the right time" received the division's 2008 "Fish & Wildlife Division Officer of the Year" award.

Trooper Marc Boyd, age 44, was presented the award by Captain Walt Markee, OSP Fish & Wildlife Division director, and Sergeant Tom Hulett during a presentation at the OSP Springfield Area Command office.

Man Dies in Single Car Crash in Southern Oregon

Police say the vehicle rolled and became airborne before crashing.

(ROSEBURG, Ore.) - State troopers are investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that resulted in the death of a Roseburg-area man Tuesday night, who was ejected from his out-of-control car northbound on Interstate 5 about seven miles south of Cottage Grove.

It happened at approximately 8:17 p.m. police say, when a 2000 Hyundai two-door driven by 32-year old Jason Winchell Gerkin of Roseburg, was northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 167.

Man Arrested for Shooting at Motorists & Attempted Car Theft

Police say the man crashed, shot at cars, tried to steal one on the freeway, and then from a car dealership where he was arrested.

(ROSEBURG, Ore.) - Police say a Myrtle Creek-area man was arrested Saturday following a series of events starting with a single vehicle crash on Interstate 5 north of Myrtle Creek, shots fired at passing vehicles, and then an attempt to take a car from an auto dealership in Roseburg. There were no injuries.

Oregon State Police Sergeant Bill Fugate says Saturday at approximately 10:00 a.m., 32-year old Gregory Scott Vandenbos of Myrtle Creek, was involved in a non-injury single vehicle crash northbound Interstate 5 near milepost 111.

OSP Fish & Wildlife troopers cite hunters Northwest of Roseburg.

(ROSEBURG, Ore.) - Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division troopers cited three men and a juvenile male all from Springfield on Saturday afternoon when a field contact led to the discovery of three illegally killed cow elk northwest of Roseburg.

On March 28th 2009 at approximately 3:00 p.m. OSP Senior Troopers Wayne Merritt and Don Frerichs were patrolling the Bateman Ridge area near Tyee about 20 miles northwest of Roseburg.

Southern Oregon Cops Help Kids at Christmas

(ROSEBURG, Ore.) - Several Douglas County area law enforcement officers and Kmart associates helped to brighten the upcoming holiday season for many children Saturday morning participating in the area's annual "Shop with a Cop".

Saturday, from 8:45 AM to 11:00 AM, Oregon State Police troopers along with members from Roseburg Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Myrtle Creek Police Department, and Winston Police Department helped children shop for special gifts at the Roseburg Kmart store.

According to Douglas County Deputy Dwes Hutson, children were paired with a law enforcement officer and given a $30.00 gift card to buy presents for their family.

Police Investigate Man`s Death Near Roseburg

The man's wife and his mother, an 84-year old passenger in the car, were injured. All were using safety restraints.

(ROSEBURG, Ore.) - Police say a Roseburg man died at an area hospital Tuesday night when he apparently suffered a medical problem while driving on Interstate 5 south of Roseburg. The man's wife was able to stop the vehicle after it collided with a guardrail.

The 1992 Cadillac Deville driven by 68-year old Ralph Phelps of Roseburg, was northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 116 when he became unresponsive from a possible medical problem.
