US: Obama Publicly Call on the Government of Bahrain to Immediately and Unconditionally Release Abdulhadi al-Khawaja

(HONG KONG) - Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, a human rights defender and democracy activist in Bahrain, may soon die, as he has been on a hunger strike for more than two months. This, in a country that has been a U.S. ally for years.

Al-Khawaja was arrested one year ago and sentenced to life in prison in June 2011 as part of a group trial of 21 activists and human rights defenders.

(DHAKA- Bangladesh) - Bahrain should immediately and unconditionally release Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja from prison.

Mr. Al-Khawaja has been in a Hunger Strike for four weeks, he is now suffering deteriorated health, entering his fourth week without nourishment. In an open letter, Al-Khawaja pledged to stay on hunger strike until “freedom or death.”
