Coast Guard Rescues Four Surfers in Newport, Oregon

Depending on the conditions, Oregon can be an extremely dangerous place to surf, especially for novices.

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - Coast Guard helicopter Coast Guard rescue crews headed for a popular surfing area on the south side of Yaquina Head, in Newport, Oregon Wednesday, to rescue four surfers who were trapped on rocks at the base of Yaquina Head.

The Coast Guard at Yaquina Bay received a call at 5:00 p.m. from 911 asking for assistance in the rescue of the four men. Just less than 30 minutes later, at 5:27 p.m., an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from the Coast Guard Air Facility in Newport, was launched to fly a short distance and assist the men.

The vessel sank in approximately 600-feet of water in the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary.

Southern Californians Besieged With Station Fire

Two longstanding LA County firefighters perished during operations.

(LOS ANGELES) - Salem-News.com As firefighters around the nation battle at least 175 wildfires, Southern California is losing lives and homes to the most nightmarish blaze in years. The Station Fire has already scorched 140,150 acres and is only 22% contained.

Fire officials with Cal Fire, say the Mount Wilson TV and radio communication towers are directly threatened as well as the historic observatory, located in the foothills northeast of Los Angeles.

Coast Guard Sinks 60` Vessel After Fire

Oceanographers at the NOAA determined that any fuel residue from the wreck would drift seaward with minimal long-term impact.

Young Child From Canada Drowns in Molalla River

Officials consider the incident a tragic accident.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Drowning incident The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office had the sad duty of locating a small child Monday at Feyer Park, in Molalla. Sheriff's Office Spokesman, Detective Jim Strovink, says they learned by Monday evening that the child had died.

The child is identified as 5-year old Markian Barsukoff of Alberta, Canada. "Markian was here in Oregon, visiting with his family to attend a wedding and family reunion," Strovink said.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Rafts in Clackamas River inciden during which husband saved wife's life 7-27-09 Tragedy was averted Sunday by the persistent and heroic efforts of a husband who dislodged his submerged wife from the ominous grip of the Clackamas River, and revived her lifeless body by administering life-saving CPR.

The Clackamas County Dispatch received a report Sunday of a female subject that was initially submerged in the water, retrieved from the water and then revived.

Clackamas County Deputies Join Forces With Oregon State Police On The Clackamas River‏.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Clackamas River boat crashed Clackamas County Sheriff's Marine Patrol and Oregon State Police Fish & Game Officers joined forces over the weekend focusing enhanced enforcement on the Clackamas River.

On Saturday, July 25, 2009, between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. five Oregon State Police Troopers and ten Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine personnel focused attention on the Clackamas River – between Barton and Carver.

Clackamas Search & Rescue Locates Missing Teens at Timothy Lake

A Clackamas County Sheriff's Office spokesman says the boys were reunited soon with family when they are transported from the location where they were found.

(TIMOTHY LAKE, Ore.) - Timothy Lake in Clackamas County The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and their search partners have located the three teenagers who have been the subject of the overnight search in the Timothy Lake area have been located.

They were located basically across the lake from the campground by searchers. The boys were walking, pushing their bikes.

Helicopter Crashes in Grays Harbor: Both People Survive (VIDEO)

It was reported that the passenger survived the crash into the water without being injured. The pilot however, did reportedly suffer minor injuries.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - Salem-News.com The Coast Guard says a privately owned helicopter crashed into the shallow waters of Grays Harbor, Washington sometime before 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7th 2009.

It happened about a mile north of Ocean Shores, Washington. The people were located and recovered early in the morning.

Clackamas County Search & Rescue Successfully Rescues Injured Climber on Mount Hood

The patient was airlifed to Emanuel Hospital‏ by an Oregon National Guard helicopter.

(MOUNT HOOD, Ore.) - Oregon's Mount Hood Search and Rescue personnel on Mount Hood have successfully rescued a patient with a broken leg from the Sandy Glacier area.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Jim Strovink, says the patient is being airlifted by an Oregon National Guard helicopter from Mount Hood and transported directly to Emanuel Hospital, in Portland.

He says the patient is 27-year old Kristopher R. Haskins of the Seattle, Washington area where he is employed by the University of Washington, in Seattle.
